Silence Of The Sheep

A young lady came to my door this evening.  She was doorbelling for Laurie Jinkins.  Ms. Jinkins is a primary candidate for the 27th legislative district state House of Representatives.  She is, of course, a democrat.  I asked the young lady what her candidate was going to do for us.  She said she was going to create jobs and work on health care issues. 

I asked her how Ms. Jinkins intended to create jobs.  I was met with silence.

I asked how Ms. Jinkins intended to bring fiscal responsibility to our state? (Jinkins doesn't say she is and this gal didn't mention it either - I asked out of the blue)  I said we don't have enough money and are billions in the hole.  Stone silence and she started to walk away. 

I asked if it bothered her that the state was so far in the red.  She just started to walk a bit faster and by this time she was almost at my neighbor's house.

I asked here if it bothered her that Ms. Jinkins would only give us more of the same.  She ignored me and walked up the neighbor's steps.

One of two things was happening here.  Most likeley she was told not to engage in any conversation, just hand out the leaflet and keep walking, or she didn't really have an answer.  Probably both given the look on her face when I asked my first question about jobs, she probably had no clue anyway.

Just another Democrat sheep.

I have A Question

I have a question for all of you open border types.  If you are not an open border type, then this question might be one you can ask your open border advocate friends.

Here's the question:

If you are for open borders, do you have a fence around your yard and/or do you lock your doors to your house and car.  If so, why?

Might be interesting to watch them squirm.

The Scott Brown Victory

The dust has somewhat settled on the Bay State.  Martha Coakley will go back to being the Attorney General and Scott Brown will soon be heading to DC to be sworn in as Massachusetts' newest Senator.   It's been fun watching all the heads explode on the left trying to spin Coakley's loss. 

I've been reading a few articles and listening to the radio and just shaking my head at all of the twisting and turning.  Here is a partial list of excuses I've actually either heard or read:

• She lost because she's a woman
• She lost because Mass. Voters are now racists.
• She lost because she ran a bad campaign.
• She lost because she didn't get enough help from the White House.
• She lost because she was a bad candidate.
• She lost because the Republicans stole it.

There might be some truth to some of that.  She might have been a bad candidate or ran a bad campaign, but no one thought she had to be much of a candidate or even run much of a campaign.  After all, she was running for the "Ted Kennedy" seat.  That seat is Democrat property.  All she should have had to do was show up at a few fund raisers, say a few of the right words and she would be elected by a twenty plus margin if she had an opponent. 

The real reason (and most of the politicians are smart enough to know) is that people have had enough.  The majority of the people in this country (including those in Massachusetts) are against the sort of health care reform coming out of the swamps of foggy bottom.  They see it for what it is:  An expensive, pork-laden ball of crap that will not reform the current system.  They see the current Congress and President as ramming things down their collective throat that they don't want to swallow.  They don't want cap and trade.  The wheels have pretty much come off the Climate Change train here of late and people aren't ready to have to ante up a few more thousand a year in taxes with money they don't have for a bill that will have absolutely no effect on the temperature outside.  They don't want this health care bill because it's costly and does nothing and in the end, it will cost them a lot more and they will get less.

I have a newsflash for the elected elite:  We see the crao you are doing and we are tired of it.

Most pols are looking real hard at what happened in Massachusetts.  If it can happen to the much vaunted and venerated Kennedy seat, how safe is theirs?

Earthquakes

The most single important thing in the news is the earthquake in Haiti.  I'm not telling you anything new when I say that this is a terrible disaster and I urge you to give to a reputable charity involved in relief efforts there.

There is a second earthquake.  Not the kind that wrecks real estate and takes human life, but the political kind.  The kind where machine politicians and entrenched corruptocrats are the ones that suffer the damage.  The kind where the anticipated outcome is all but perfunctory and the candidate is just going through the motions until the coronation and is now in real danger.  It's happening in one of the most reliable of Democrat strongholds.  There is a political earthquake of biblical proportions - at least 9.3 - on the political scale happening in Massachusetts that will be felt throughout the nation.  In most polls, the Republican Scott Brown is either leading the Democrat Martha Coakley or outright beating her.

The implications of this go way beyond the borders of the Bay State even if Brown loses by a slim margin.  If a particular candidate can't muster at least a 55% better showing in what is supposed to be a safe seat, then you have to know that candidates in much weaker states and districts are even more at risk. 

Don't think that they aren't paying attention either.  The Democrats are trying to down play this by saying that Coakley didn't run a good campaign or that she wasn't a good candidate.  Good luck with that.

And here's to a Scott Brown victory.

A Little Perspective

It supposed to be hot here in Western Washington.  It's supposed to hit a sweat gushing 103 degrees.  I'm not complaining.

I don't have to wear a long sleeved Battle Dress Uniform, full body armor and carrying a rucksack and a rifle while dodging potshots from enemy terrorists and running down a street that smells worse than the inside of Michael Moore's undershorts.

103 degrees is a bit warm, but I can deal with it.  You won't hear me complaining.

Corporate Corruption

I don't have much time to post much this evening so I shall point you here for an excellent treatise that pretty much describes what went wrong in Corporate America and the subsequent meltdown that ensued.

Here's a teaser:

The business world is crawling with affable, industrious, intelligent people with nothing to distinguish them from ten thousand other affable, industrious and intelligent people, but who very much would like to be rich. Except by winning the equivalent of a lottery or marrying up, their chances of becoming rich are quite poor. They joint a fraternity at college to make contacts, and went to business school to network. They have no friends, only contacts, as their entire social life from freshman year onward has been a struggle to get to know people who might help them. They live in silent terror that they will fall off the corporate gravy train and never have the chance to clamber back on.

It gets better and the solutions make sense.

The GM-Segway PUMA

I'm sure everyone has seen the pictures of the new General Government Motors - Segway PUMA.  They say it will be priced and cost about 1/4 to 1/3 of the the average cost of buying and owning a new car.  According to the FTC, the average price of a new car these days is around $28,400.  That means if you go on price alone, it will cost between $7100 to $9400.  I suspect the initial cost of the car will be higher, given that it will be relatively inexpensive to operate.

It's billed as a two passenger vehicle, but looking at this picture, if one of the passengers is a small child, that might be the case.  If it's two adults, they should be reasonably well acquainted because if not, they will be by the end of the first ride.

Frankly, this is the future.  Our new Socialist Overlords will pretty much see to it.

The Next Generation Cop Car

Taking a break from all the depressing political and economic hope and change going on, I thought I'd talk about something completely different. 

An Atlanta based start-up, Carbon Motors, wants to build police cars from the ground up.  Currently, a city police department buys a passenger car, then has it modified by one or more after market shops in order to turn it into a police car.  Carbon Motors say they can build a hi-tech "purpose-built police car" for about the same cost as a fully outfitted, modified car. 

They will use a European built (my guess Mercedes-Benz) diesel capable of propelling the car to a governed top speed of 155MPH.  It'll do 0-60 in 6.5 seconds and a quarter-mile in 14.5 seconds.  It is specially designed to do PIT maneuvers.  It also can come with license plate cams that read the plates and tell the officers in the car if the car is reported stolen or expired.  You can read the spec sheet here.

They haven't yet got a factory built, but they say they've narrowed the site to five states. 

I bet cops all over the country are in drool mode over this car.  Can't say as I blame them.
