Jimmy Hoffa - Take The SOBs Out!

The Teamsters have been anti-worker decades.  The Mob controlled it (and most likely still does to a certain extent) for a long time,  Tools like James Riddle Hoffa looked the other way while the Mob bosses used the Teamsters as their personal piggy bank.  In exchange, Hoffa got to run a powerful union with muscle provided the Mafia.  Jimmy R. was a Republican and gave heavily to Nixon's campaign.  For all that was wrong with the Kennedys, they were anti-Mafia and went after the Teamsters and its president Dave Beck. Jimmy R. took the reins after the got Beck.

Jimmy R. also eventually fell under the same Senate investigation.  He was eventually tried and convicted of jury tampering, receiving a 13 year sentence in 1964.  After exhausting his appeals, he entered federal prison in 1967 and was granted clemency by Richard Nixon in 1971 in exchange for some campaign cash and for finally resigning as president of the Teamsters.  Along with his freedom, Jimmy R. had to agree to stay out of the Teamsters leadership until 1980.  Jimmy wanted his job back after he was released and the Mob wanted the more compliant and respectable-looking Frank Fitzsimmons to remain in charge.  Jimmy R. disappeared on July 30th, 1975.  Supposedly, he was scheduled to meet a couple of his old Mobster buddies to discuss his eventual return.  Jimmy R. was never seen again.  They found lots of suspects, but they never found a body.  Speculation concerning his apparent untimely demise has spawned a number of conspiracy stories and a plethora of books.  Jimmy R. was officially declared dead after seven years in 1982

Fast forward 21 years after Jimmy R. disappeared to 1996 and Jimmy R.'s only son, James Phillip is now President of the Teamsters.  He took over from Ron Carey when it came out that Carey was elected using union funds.  It's now 2011 and Jimmy P. still sits firmly at the helm.  Unlike his uneducated, street-fighter, mobster Daddy, Jimmy P. is college educated.  He's an attorney and worked as a lawyer for the Teamsters before he started climbing the power ladder to the top.

While Jimmy P. is not his uneducated daddy and while I know of no connections to organized crime, Jimmy P.  was trained by his daddy.  Daddy brought him to meetings and taught him how to fight dirty.  Daddy also taught him how to get power and hold on to it, by using violence if necessary.  The difference between Daddy and son is finesse.  Jimmy R. used his fists, little Jimmy P. learned the law. Daddy might have liked the Republicans, but sonny boy is a rabid leftist.

Today, in Detroit, we learn that the apple, despite it's apparent polishing, does not fall far from the tree.

"We got to keep an eye on the battle that we face: The war on workers. And you see it everywhere, it is the Tea Party. And you know, there is only one way to beat and win that war. The one thing about working people is we like a good fight. And you know what? They've got a war, they got a war with us and there's only going to be one winner. It's going to be the workers of Michigan, and America. We're going to win that war," Jimmy Hoffa Jr. said to a heavily union crowd.

"President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. Let's take these sons of bitches out and give America back to an America where we belong," Hoffa added.

I suppose Jimmy P. will say he was talking about the voting booth.  Maybe he was, but given that to Jimmy R., real men fought with their fists and the Teamsters have a history of using violence, either by Mafia proxies or local goons, an argument could be made that Hoffa meant it literally.

When Gabby Gifford was shot by the lunatic Loughner, every idiot leftist with a keyboard or a microphone was demanding that Palin be arrested for using a target icon over gifford's district on a website.  A more civil tone by the left and Obama was demanded!  Yet at a rally, attended by the President, a speech was given using violent rhetoric was used to inflame the attendees.

Will President Zero condemn Jimmy P.'s remarks?  Probably not. 

We've already been put on notice by the Holder Justice Department that voter intimidation by friendly (to the Democrats) groups will not be investigated.

I predict things are not going to be peaceful and I doubt it will be the Tea party causing the problem.  Could be wrong - sometimes I am, but I'll bet I'm not in this case.

I Am A Conservative Christiian And I Am Not A Terrorist!

By all accounts so far, Anders Behring Breivik acted alone.  There appears to be no underlying organization or cell.  There's no indication that there is another group ready to step in and take up his call to arms.

Breivik posted his "manifesto" on line just before he committed his crimes.  I didn't read it, but I did see the video that he is said to have posted. 

I would be less than honest if I said he is completely wrong. Unfortunately, where he is right, he goes way overboard.  His assertions that there is some underlying grand conspiracy by Muslims is indeed paranoid.  His idea that there is some Marxist cadre out there pulling even more strings is also out there in paranoia land.  That said, the western world seems to be increasingly leaning leftward as we seek to find some kind of way to level the playing field.  As Muslim populations grow in some areas, there are some who seek to impose their own system of cultural laws over our established ideas of justice and liberty.  It is indeed a clash of cultures at times.

I do worry about our government and the slow march toward some kind of liberal paradise.  The fundamental difference between what I believe and much of the left is the idea that government is the granter of rights.  I believe that man inherently has rights, whether by God (as I believe) or because it is human need (as I understand Conservative Atheists view it).  Either way, government should be responsible to the citizens, not the other way around.

In addressing a joint session of Congress in 1974, President Gerald Ford said perhaps the profoundest thing in his life: "A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have."

Government is, in fact, something to be feared.

That does not, however, give anyone the right to blow up government buildings, then go to a youth camp and shoot teenagers like fish in a barrel.  There might come a time when we may have to throw off an overly oppressive government when we have no other recourse, but Norway is hardly a dictatorship - yet.  While the government is certainly left leaning, opposition parties are legal and do operate.  Even in the worst case scenario, shooting innocent kids is not an acceptable action.  It's murder.

I am a conservative.  I make no bones about it.  I am proud to say it.  I come by my opinions and understanding honestly through study and through reason.  I am also a Christian.  I am not of the fundamentalist variety, but I doubt you would even find many of them who would follow the likes of Breivik.  As much as I dislike them, not even Fred Phelps' idiotic brand of Baptists would do something like that. 

I would also venture to say that in tens of thousands of Christian churches across this great land this Sunday morning, the type of actions and thinking of Breivik were condemned and prayers were offered for the families of his victims.

Christianity does not teach people to go out and harm others.  No where in the New Testament is the idea of genocide taught.  We are taught to spread the Gospel, but not at the point of a gun.

As citizens of a free nation, we have a responsibility to keep our freedoms and our way of life.  We have a responsibility and a right to defend our country, our homes and our family.  As long as their is political recourse, we do not have the right to armed defiance against our government.

Breivik is a psychopath.  Whatever function in the brain that enables a conscience and remorse for wrong doing is somehow irrevocably short circuited.  He is not a Christian Knight nor does the Masonic order of Knights Templar espouse such thinking.  My father was a Mason and a member of the Knights Templar.  I hardly think he would have had anything to do with an organization that would teach or even condone such action.

Breivik is not Christian and he is not a terrorist,  He is a pschopathic criminal that should forever be removed from the society that gave him so much.  Unfortunately, Norway does not have a death penalty and according to the UK Telegraph, he will get a maximum of 21 years.  Yes you read that correctly, 21 years.  In contrast, Dominick Sergio Maldonado, the young man who shot up the Tacoma Mall and only ended up wounding (severely) one person, received a 263 year sentence.

To say that Christians pose some huge terrorist threat is flawed and even dishonest.  No group is free of its bad seeds.  We can't be responsible for every nutbag that pops up.  All we can do is continue to teach our truth and denounce those who would harm others without cause.

I am a Conservative.  I am a Christian.  I am not a threat to my community or country.  I'm not ashamed and neither should anyone else who claims the same.

Dominick Sergio Maldonado

Dominick Sergio Maldonado is the young man who, in a pique, decided to shoot up the Tacoma Mall a back in 2005.   He recently made news by participating in an escape attempt at Clallam Bay Corrections Center.  Mr. Maldonado allegedly held a pair of scissors to the throat of a guard while his accomplice tried to drive a forklift through the fence.  Unfortunately for Dominick's accomplice, he was shot and killed as he headed for the fence.  Thus ending Mr. Maldonado's escape plans.  He was moved to Stafford Creek near Aberdeen. where he is presumably in solitary confinement.

I get fifty to a hundred page hits a day searching for his name so I thought I'd write an update of sorts.

I've blogged about him a few times.  I've received several emails from his friends and even one from his wife (including a picture)  I've even received one from his brother that contained a veiled threat.  I offered to post his side, uncut and unedited so his side could be heard.  I never heard back.  That offer still goes by the way.

Dominick was no angel.  He had a long rap sheet prior to his rampage.  He'll never ever see the outside of prison in this lifetime.  It's a shame.  He's still a relatively young man and he squandered away his future.  I was told by his friends, wife and brother what a great guy he is and I believe them.  I'm sure, to his friends and family, he is a fine person.  But to society, he crossed a line by threatening, even if accidentally, the lives of innocents.  I've been told that he wasn't out to hurt anyone.  I believe that - at least he wasn't when he started.  When he saw a store clerk aim a gun at him, he fired and hit the clerk, crippling him for life.  

As I tried to explain to his friends and family, we cannot excuse shooting up a mall simply because someone had a bad day, week, year or life.  We could not exist in a civilized way if we allowed such things to be the norm.  The world would be a pretty scary place.

Our justice system is a bit skewed.  There are people in our prisons that will walk free in a relatively short period of time who've done far worse.  That's not to say that Dominick didn't deserve his sentence, but it makes you wonder when you read of murderers walk out after five or seven or ten years.

Dominick will never breathe a breath as a free man ever again.  My hope is that others will see the lesson and decide not to do such a thing, but alas, we have short memories and young people seem to think they are invincible.

Tyler Clementi

By all accounts, Tyler Clementi was destined for greatness.  At age 18, he was already an accomplished musician with a promising career ahead of him.  Now, we'll never know because he decided to end his life.  It's tragic.  It shouldn't have had to end like that. 

But it did .

And because it did, our natural reaction is to demand more than justice; we want retribution!  We want the two people who invaded this young man's privacy to pay dearly for what they did, for pushing him over the edge.

Some want to charge Dharun Ravi and Molly Wei with a hate crime on top of the invasion of privacy and illegal taping charges already considered.  Some are advocating manslaughter charges.

As horrified as I am about this terrible tragedy, I also believe in reason and the rule of law.  I've thought long and hard over these past few days about this, allowing my anger to temper a bit into reason.

From everything I've read about this case, I don't get the sense that this was a hate crime.  I really don't.  It was not a thought crime, it was a thoughtless crime.  I'm disposed to think that Ravi would have taped his roommate even if his partner was a female.  I will admit to the fact that I don't know for sure, but than neither does anyone else. 

Let me propose another scenario;  What if Tyler was a girl (I've known a few female Tylers) and her roommate taped her being intimate with her boyfriend?  And what if Tyler killed herself because of it? Would it still be a hate crime?  Would the eavesdroppers actions be any less  reprensible? We probably couldn't call it a hate crime. 

I don't normally like the "what if" questions.  As an old saying goes:  "If your aunt was plumbed a bit differently, she'd be your uncle."  You can "what if" something to death, but I think it's a useful ploy here to put this into some context.

Ravi and Wei deserve to be punished for their reprehensible actions.  I believe they broke the law concerning privacy and taping and for that, I belive they should get the maximum (I've read) of five years in prison with the hope that it will deter others from doing similar, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, or whatever other criteria you can name. 

I don't like witch hunts.  I do like justice, but I also I believe in the rule of law.  While I might think that a child molester deserves a hideous and painful death, we must follow the law.  Civilization demands it.

Who's The Joke? (UPDATED)

Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-Debauchery) is claiming that the newly minted Senator Scott Brown's candidacy is a joke.

"Brown's whole candidacy was shown to be a joke today when he was sworn in early in order to cast his first vote as an objection to Obama's appointment to the NLRB," Kennedy said Thursday.

It's called self-parody.  This drug and alcohol addled Representative from Rhode Island and son of a murdering, drunken, womanizer telling us someone else is a joke?  The real joke is the one perpetuated over the years that somehow the notoriously corrupt and crooked Kennedy family is some kind of American royalty.

Stick A Fork In Huckabee...

He's done.  I never was a supporter of Mike Huckabee during the last primary, preferring even John McCain of him.  Just something about him didn't set right with me. 

Now it comes to light that he gave clemency in Arkansas back in 2000 to the "person of interest" in the Lakewood Police shooting.  According to various sources around the web, Huckabee granted clemency to Marice Clemmons.  Clemmons was in prison on a 95 year sentence for aggravated robbery.  After almost ten years, Huckabee granted him clemency because Clemmons was only 17 when he was sentenced.  Our alleged killer wound up in Western WA in Seattle in 2002 and he wound up in Tacoma where he was out on bail for a child rape rap.

Huckabee has a long record of pardoning or granting clemency to criminals who once released, returned to crime. 

These things will come back to haunt you.

Lakewood Police Shooting

Just south of Tacoma, right at McChord AFB, is a small city called Lakewood.  Four Lakewood, WA police officers were shot dead in an ambush at a coffee shop as they were preparing for their shift.  The suspect never pointed his weapon at anyone else in the shop.  This was clearly an execution.

It's not known if it's gang related or not.  Usually gangsters don't want to pick that kind of fight, but evil people do evil things so you can't absolutely rule it out.

Three male and one female officer were killed.  The description of the killer is:

• Black Male
• 5'7" to 5'10"
• "Scruffy" looking (what ever that means)
• Wearing a black coat and gray hoody.

There is a $10,000 dollar reward up.  I know that if I had any information that would net me all or part of that reward, I would donate it to a fund for the families of the slain officers.

Our prayers are with the families and their fellow officers.  I hope they catch this guy and I want to see him arrested and get the death penalty.  If he puts up a fight and experiences a bit of pain on his way out, that's OK too.

Seattle Justice

Let's say you are 17-years-old and you and two buddies are in a fight with an adult.  A cop shows up, the adult backs off and you decide this pig needs a lesson so you and your two 17-year-old friends attack the cop.  You get his radio and you go for his gun.  He keeps his gun but you kick him in the head so hard, it causes the cop to have permanent brain damage and a loss of motor skills.  He'll probably never work as a policeman again.

If this were someplace that took justice seriously, these so-called teens would have been tried as an adult and spent a few years in the big house for assaulting a police officer.  But this is Seattle, after all. It's a place where you can beat harmless people to death and only get 9 months in jail.

And this being Seattle, these punks got about two months (59 days of which was already served when they were sentenced).  Sure, they got a years probation and some community service time, but if you think that makes much difference, you are delusional.

One police officer told the judge:

"You're sending the wrong message," Officer W. Kohn told the judge during the hearing.

"We are not punching bags. The word is going to get out that you can commit a minor assault on an officer and you're not going to be held accountable."

Except I don't think causing permanent brain damage is "minor".

And in a few months, their juvenile records will be sealed and they will never really have to answer for their actions. 

This is what you get for electing liberals time after time and then you wonder why your city is going to hell in a handbasket.

The Lakewood Wal-Mart Murder UPDATED-BUMPED:

UPDATE:  They got the bastards!

At a Wal-Mart in Lakewood, WA there was a murder and a robbery today.  Two guys approached a Loomis guard carrying a sack from a bank inside the Wal-Mart and shot him in the head.  The bullet passed through the guard and lodged in the shoulder of a customer holding his kid.   My wife was in the Wal-Mart at the time.  She didn't see it go down, but she definitely heard the shot. 

They killed the guard right off.  He never had a chance.  I'm thinking the death penalty applies if the catch these sub-human animals.  On the other hand, in liberal WA, they will probably get off with community service and a small fine.

Our van is still in the parking lot.  We hope to get it back tonight, but we will probably get it back tomorrow.  We can't get in the parking lot to retrieve it.  It went down around 1:30 PM PDT and it is now 7:00 PM PDT.  We may not get it until tomorrow is my guess.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the relatives of the dead guard.  We are grateful that no one else was killed.  It could have been a lot worse if the two idiots tried to take a hostage.

Here's hoping the cops catch these goons soon.
