Al Gore Is A Carnivore

The biggest threat to personal freedom does not come from the right.  The left doesn't like how we are tracking terrorism in some cases, but this type of thing rarely affects us.  The left, on the other hand, is all about regulation.  They want to tell you where you can live, what you can drive and what you can eat. 

Al Gore is learning that lesson.  Low and behold, the far left PETA Vegans are unhappy with Mr. Gore's carnivorous ways.  Mr. Gore's own kind are turning on him.

He may be the hero of the environmental movement for his crusade against global warming but Al Gore is about to be targeted by animal rights activists over his carnivorous contribution to greenhouse gases.

Citing United Nations research that the meat industry is worse for the environment than driving and flying, animal rights groups are directing a campaign at the former American vice-president's diet.

When he delivers a lecture on global warming in Denver next month, protesters will display billboards bearing a cartoon image of Mr Gore eating a drumstick and the message: "Too chicken to go vegetarian? Meat is the No 1 cause of global warming".

It's not enough that Mr. Gore is leading the charge for global warming, to these nut jobs, he's just not green enough.  If he was really serious, he would be out grazing on his lawn instead of eating helpless, innocent and docile creatures whose only sin was to be born domesticated.

Those of us on the right might take Gore to task for his obvious  and gross hypocrisy. He demands that we all cut back on our fuel and energy use, yet he drives around in huge SUVs, lives in a mansion that sucks up more energy in a month than most people use in a year and flys around the globe on private jets.  I don't care that he does that, but if he is going to tell me how I have to live, I can call BS!

It's a bit amusing that Al Gore is getting a little of what he gives.

Live Earth is a parody of itself.  You can't make this up.  No kilowatt hour was spared to bring you the message that you must spare kilowatt hours.  Sure, some attempts were made by some of the venues to consume less or recycle, but it was not their usual way of doing business.  It the heart of farce.

The biggest hypocrite of all was the concert's mack-daddy, Al Gore.  Big Al, one of the most profligate energy consumers on the planet, was promoting the concert and asking concert-goers to agree to a seven point pledge to destroy our standard of living.  The good part was that his pledge was lost in the glitz.

From the WaPo:

Certainly, on the way into the show, some of the 65,000 people who'd spent $110 on a ticket appeared unaware of the seven-point pledge that Al Gore, the event's chief impresario, had asked all spectators to make. Asked about it, they offered blank looks and said they were there for Madonna.

And this observation by some Brit band leader nails it:

It's an inconvenient truth, but mixing rock with recycling is awkward. In a TV interview earlier this week, Matt Bellamy of the band Muse mocked the event as "private jets for climate change."

From the British newspaper, The Daily Mail:

A Daily Mail investigation has revealed that far from saving the planet, the extravaganza will generate a huge fuel bill, acres of garbage, thousands of tonnes of carbon emissions, and a mileage total equal to the movement of an army.

The most conservative assessment of the flights being taken by its superstars is that they are flying an extraordinary 222,623.63 miles between them to get to the various concerts - nearly nine times the circumference of the world. The true environmental cost, as they transport their technicians, dancers and support staff, is likely to be far higher.

The total carbon footprint of the event, taking into account the artists' and spectators' travel to the concert, and the energy consumption on the day, is likely to be at least 31,500 tonnes of carbon emissions, according to John Buckley of Carbonfootprint.com, who specialises in such calculations.

Throw in the television audience and it comes to a staggering 74,500 tonnes. In comparison, the average Briton produces ten tonnes in a year.

This whole global warming message is a joke.  Rich celebrities and idiot politicians, people who wouldn't know the difference between a kilowatt from a kilobyte, are telling us to cut back and ruin our economy while they continue to leave Sasquatchian sized carbon footprints.  How do you listen to someone who flies on private jets, rides in gas-guzzling limos and SUVs and uses more energy in a day in their private homes that some people use in a month and not think hypocrite?

When Liberals Rule?

The left wing in this country really isn't very nice.  They are really comprised of some of the most intolerant, small-minded people.  And the hell of it is, for many of them, they are so convinced of their self-righteous smugness, they don't see how small minded and intolerant they've become.  It's as if they look in the mirror and their self-stroked ego blinds them completely from the wrinkles, warts and moles that ravage their visage. All they see is a false image of fairness and love.  Their own intolerance, plain for others to see, is hidden from them by an enormous egotistical blind spot.

Case in point:

Here's the good news: The Republican party is dying. Slow, painful, twitching, secreting war and intolerance and desperation like a fetid gas, snarling and gagging like Jabba the Hutt being choked by the hard chain of progress and hope and relaxed social mores and an upcoming Generation Next that seems to sense that screaming about gays and women's rights and Muslims and drugs actually doesn't do much to move the human experiment forward in the slightest. (ed. - emphasis added)

Talk about stereotyping, this entire column is choked with this kind of sticky, syrupy corrosive.  He slimes us with his acidic self-appointed superiority as he distills the Republican message down to hatred of gays, women, and Muslims, our backward thinking about drugs and social mores.    We are the troglodytes that keep humanity confined to the caves of stunted development.  They, the "upcoming Generation Next" some  how just know that we taint the very air that they breathe. We are dinosaurs on the brink of extinction, except that we breed like drunken ferrets. 

In the next part, it reads like a KKK pamphlet telling us how the Negro will breed themselves into the majority except you can plug in Christian for Negro.  His bigotry is so apparent and bald.

He ends with this less than inspiring conclusion:

And hence we are, as ever, simply a mad intoxicated mishmash of reactions and beliefs and ideologies, a God-obsessed sex-crazed drug-lovin' sociopolitical train wreck of a country that doesn't really know its ass from a hole in the ground or its God from a burp in the sky.

Personally, I'm going with the new liberal dawn thing. Hell, it doesn't hurt to dream, right?

And people wonder why there is such political acrimony in this country.  I don't.  Liberals complain about Ann Coulter, then I read stuff like this and realize that Coulter is probably not quite as hate-filled as guys like this.

An Inconvenient Inconvenience

A lot of folks got their BVDs in a knot yesterday when Algore supposedly "accidentally breeched" Airport security. 

NASHVILLE (AP) — An airline employee led former Vice President Al Gore and two associates around airport security lines before police spotted the breach and required them to be screened, officials said Thursday.

The employee of American Airlines led the three down to the lower baggage level Wednesday and improperly swiped each of them through a secure turnstile with her security badge, Nashville International Airport spokeswoman Lynne Lowrance said. She declined to identify the employee.

The breach was spotted by airport police officer Sgt. Gary Glover, who was assigned to wait for Gore to come through security and escort him to his gate.

There are a lot of reasons to dislike Algore.  Not only is he a hypocritical preacher of doom and gloom, he owns a company formed to profit from such dire warnings. He deserves to be flogged in the media and the blogosphere for all that, but frankly, I gotta tell ya, this incident is ridiculous.

I don't care what anyone thinks of the guy , and I for sure don't like his politics and hypocrisy.   On the other hand, a former Vice President or President of the United States should be allowed to pass through any airport security in this country without question.  This is asinine. 

No country in this world does stupid crap like this.  We are so worried about political correctness,  that we don't focus on the real criminals and security threats for fear we'll piss off someone.  Instead, we worry about whether a former Vice President of this country passes through security.  Get a freakin grip!
