Hate Crime?

All over the blogosphere today is the story of Liberal screecher Randi Rhodes.  I'm not going to spend a lot of time on this except to say that the left was absolutely despicable in their accusations that it was some right wing maniac, hell-bent on shutting up Ms. Rhodes.  The biggest question is why anyone would bother with her.  It isn't like she is even that well known!  The fact is that it wasn't a mugging, she fell.  There is even one semi credible report that she had been drinking.  Who knows, but that isn't my main point. 

No dear readers that was no hate crime.  At best she's a klutz, at worst, she is a drunken klutz. 

The hate crime I want to talk about is the hate crime you are committing when you publically display a derogatory depiction of a witch during Halloween. 

What's supposed to be a simple Halloween decoration is now brewing up some controversy in Chicopee. One group is calling the decoration a hate crime.

Driving down East Street in Chicopee it's hard not to notice a witch hanging from a noose. To many, it's an innocent Halloween decoration, but for Kelly Lynch it's offensive.

That's why when she saw the life-like witch hanging in someones front yard she went straight to the home owner's door.

"He told me to lighten up, it was a Halloween decoration, I know it's his constitutional right, but I want it down. To make that your only decoration...it's kind of odd, " stresses Lynch.

In other words, screw his rights, my feelings are what are important.

Sorry lady, but you have no right to not be offended. 

"It's depicting death. I wouldn't destroy a cross or bash a religion or race, so I don't expect that to happen to me, " adds Lynch.

People bash Christianity all the time.  Big Deal. 

Halloween is a part of our culture.  At what point do we stop the nonsense?  No Christmas, no Halloween, no Easter, No Columbus Day, when does it stop?  Simply because some aspect of a holiday that has been part and parcel to our culture suddenly offends someone, we have to curtail it. 

When do we get to be offended by those that are offended?

The End Of Air America?

Air America is broke.

Air America Radio, a liberal talk and news radio network, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, a network official told the AP.

Air America has been on the ropes for awhile.  Whether they emerge from bankruptcy or not, and in what form if they do, remains to be seen.

There have also been accusations of an unethical loan from a Boys and Girls club in New York. 

The bottom line is that there wasn't the listenership to justify their continued operation. 

The marketplace is often a harsh mistress.

Air Scamerica - The Plot Thickens

Michelle Malkin and Brian Maloney are once again pounding Air ScAmerica.  This time with some heavy ammunition.  They are doing a four part story on the various scams and shell games Piquant and their corporate parents and grandparents were/is playing.

They have a copy of a default judgment against Air America that has never been paid and the subsequent complaint filed for non-payment of that judgment for Multicultural Radio.  They promise more to come later today.

If this was a conservative corporation playing fast and loose with corporate law and fiduciary responsibility, the Lefties would be screaming for someone's head.  As it is, they are laying low.  They are spamming Maloney's blog and making some really nasty personal and often racist attacks against Ms. Malkin and her Pinoy parentage.

Air Amerca: Meet The New Boss - Same As The Old Boss

Captain's Quarters has a couple of posts up exploring the murky incarnation and reincarnation of Air America and its various holding companies. There are two posts, so keep scrolling down.  The latest explores the legalities of selling and reselling assets. Then, as you scroll down, it all starts to come together as the genealogy of Piquant, LLC is explored. In the end, the owners are the same as the original owners.  Meet the new boss - It's the same as the old.

Air America Radio did not start out with Evan Cohen, as Piquant and Franken convenienly suggest. It started out with a man named Sheldon Drobny, a wealthy Chicago investor who wanted to build a leftist media empire and settled on radio to start it.

Captain then tells us:

Drobny and his wife Anita started a holding company called AnShell to manage the effort. However, Sheldon Drobny ran into a buzzsaw when National Review's Byron York reported on Drobny's rehashing of Lyndon LaRouche conspiracies on his own website, MakeThemAccountable.com. Drobny compared George Bush to Adolf Hitler on a number of occasions and regurgitated LaRouche's hallucinations of ties between the Bush family and German Nazis.

Now we know what kind of nutcakes are behind this!

Sooner or later, the MSM will grudgingly pick up the story, but not until they are dragged into it kicking and screaming!

UnfAIR America Update

From The Radio Equalizer -Brian Maloney:

Has a partial repayment now been made by Air America?

That's what the New York Sun is reporting, via an anonymous inside source, so it can't be confirmed.

While Air America has a deal with Bronx-based Gloria Wise Boys and Girls Club to repay the money, over two years in interest-free installments, a letter from the New York Department of Investigation appears to demand it immediately place $875,000 in an attorney-overseen escrow account.

Once again, Brian Maloney has the scoop!  It keeps getting curiouser and curiouser.

Air America: We Paid it Back Before We Didn't Pay it Back

Apparently Air America is getting John Kerry to write their press releases. In a really lame attempt to throw bloggers off the scent, last week they hinted they had paid the money back months ago:

The current owners of Air America Radio have no obligation to Progress Media,s business activities. We are very disturbed that Air America Radio's good name could be associated with a reduction in services for young people, which is why we agreed months ago to fully compensate the Gloria Wise Boys & Girls Club as a result of this transaction.

 

But this week they told FoxNews:

"We're committed to paying this money and the terms are being worked out... We are awaiting direction from the investigation into how to proceed."

When is it that they ever admit anything on the left?  Instead of trying to fix it and move on (which in the end would probably cost them a whole lot less than a gaggle of lawyers and a train load of bad press) they tell CNN one thing and Fox another.  Then they unleash the smear squads and try and besmirch and threaten anyone exposing the scandal.

If you've at all followed previous sticky liberal flaps, the routine should by now be clear:

First, it's silence, then quiet consultation, followed by a "collective" response, repeated verbatim across the Internet and mainstream media.

On Air America's taxpayer funding diversion scandal, it was inevitable liberals would snap out of their stunned silence and fight back.

The trouble is, the lefties get nasty.  They call people names and make nasty remarks about people's heritage.
