The other day, I told you about this young lady that came to my door in support of a local Democrat who is running for the state legislature. I assume she will be the next one. The guy she is replacing is term-limiting out and Ms. Jinkins has the blessings of the the top Democrats in the Party. On her website she claims she is running a "Tacoma style campaign of shoe leather, yard signs, and shaking hands in order to represent the values and priorities of the city I love." Let me cut through the crap of that statement and say that what she means is that the Unions are out doing the shoe leather thing. The gal that came by my door last night was from the local UFCW or at least that is what her shirt said.
So it's more of the same. She's a machine politico in a very safe Democrat district. There are no Republicans even trying to run for the seat.
Washington is a blue state. The western side of the Cascades is predominantly blue and the rest of the state is mostly red. Most of the state's population is on the west side of the mountains. This state has one party rule. We came close to having a Republican governor several years back, but King County (Seattle) found enough spare votes to make it happen for Queen Christine. (And by found, I literally mean FOUND)
In WA, the Democrats have had a virtual lock on the state for as long as I can remember. We are billions in the red. They can't raise enough in taxes to cover it and the taxes that they have raise will do little to balance the budget. It might stave off the wolf a little longer, but reality says that there is even a limit as to how much the liberals will pay. But what do they run on? Spending more money. Money nobody has.
Wouldn't it be nice if you could go to your employer every year or so and tell your boss - hey look, I spent a bunch and I'm in the red here, I need a raise to get me out of this hole. We call a person who would spend like that "irresponsible". The liberals are like our example, except that for some reason, we don't think it's irresponsible. We congratulate them by giving them absolute authority and one party rule.
Does that make sense? It doesn't to me. They talk a fiscally conservative game when election comes around, but take their re-election as a mandate to go off and spend even more.
The piper will be paid. The wolf will have his dinner - eventually. And when it all comes down, we'll know who to blame, but by then, it will be a bit too late to save.
