Let Me See Your Papers!

During the Bush Administration, the Democrats tried to tell us that Bush was trying to strip away your privacy rights.  Their phony concern seems to ring a little hollow.  Check these two items out.

First is a national ID card.  What is being proposed is not exactly like the drivers license in your wallet. 

The national ID program would be titled the Believe System, an acronym for Biometric Enrollment, Locally stored Information and Electronic Verification of Employment

It gets better (or worse):

It would require all workers across the nation to carry a card with a digital encryption key that would have to match work authorization databases.

“The cardholder’s identity will be verified by matching the biometric identifier stored within the microprocessing chip on the card to the identifier provided by the cardholder that shall be read by the scanner used by the employer.

Those Damned Republican Nazis!...Oh, wait.......Who is proposing this?

Democratic leaders have proposed requiring every worker in the nation to carry a national identification card with biometric information, such as a fingerprint, within the next six years, according to a draft of the measure. 

Scary.  We all know how that Social Security Number and usage thing worked out.

The other little scheme is to put a black box in your car to track your car's performance.

All new cars would have to be equipped with "black boxes" that record performance data and federal safety regulators would be granted the authority to order immediate recalls under newly proposed auto-safety legislation being considered by Congress.

So who would download this data?  More importantly, presumably, it would be speed, and other factors that you may or may not care to share with the Federal Government.  Again, we were told that the SSN would never be used for ID or other purposes.  You see how that works these days.  Why do I think there is a big possibility that this could become a gross invasion of privacy?

When you are setting up the Socialist State, you have to be able to control people.  These are just two more attempts.

Unionizing The Vatican

I wander the net sometimes for something different to write about.  Every now and then I strike comedy gold where no comedy is intended.

Tonight, while sitting at my local coffee shop because my home Internet is down for some unknown reason, I was reading about the religious violence in Nigeria, I followed a link that led me to a site called IN DEFENSE OF MARXISM.  I glanced to the crap article they had on Nigeria and decided to surf around the rest of the site and found a small opinion piece entitled "Need for a trade union at the Vatican" from November of 2008.

It seems that the "bosses" at the Vatican have instituted a time keeping system.  Employees must swipe a time card in and out. 

Lay and ecclesiastical staff are already using the swipe cards. It seems the lowest office staff to the heads of departments, even senior clerics, from priests up to the archbishops, are to have one. Apparently this is an attempt to improve time-keeping and efficiency.

These measures affect the 2000 employees at the Vatican. And as if this were not enough, next year the bosses at the Vatican are planning to bring in performance-related pay, a kind of piece work, whereby the more you produce the more money you are paid.

How such productivity is to be measured is another question. Will it be according to the number of souls saved and sent to heaven? They haven't invented a swipe card that can measure that one yet.

What is the answer?  Unionize the Vatican! 

The older clerics - who must be harking back to the militant 1960s - are complaining about the new scheme. Maybe they should start organising a union and develop a set of demands that meet the needs of the Vatican staff! Any volunteers?

It brings up all kinds of questions like what would happen if they went on strike?

It Isn't Nazism

Contrary to what the left wing wants you to understand, this new law in Arizona is not some throwback to the final solution to the Judenfrage.  It just isn't so and to accuse the good people of Arizona of such evil only serves to cheapen the real evil committed by Hitler and his henchmen.  This is not some kind of round'em up and throw'em out law despite what the Left-Wing extremists want you to believe. 

The dirty litttle secret is that the Arizona law isn't much different than Fedeal law.  Law enforcement officers are not going to roam the streets like a legal street gang preying on unsuspecting people who may or may not look hispanic.  It wasn't written that way and it will not be enforced that way. 

A little common sense would tell you that the courts would never go along with something like that and it would open them up to more law suits than there are illegals in this country.  No one is going to stop people on the street and ask for papers (with or without using a creepy German accent).

We are country of laws.  You and I are expected to obey the laws and if someone breaks the law, we expect them to be dealt with according to the law.  Why then, do people want to give people a pass who enter this country illegally.  Doing so is BREAKING THE LAW! 

If only the US government would get serious about securing our borders like the good people of Arizona!

Feeling Better

OK, Sorry for the absence.  In between and after some rather invasive routine medical checkups, I've managed to fight off a couple of viruses.  I'm finally starting to feel somewhat human again.  All that said, the docs say I'm in pretty good shape for the shape I'm in and expect me to be around for awhile longer (discounting that chance encounter with a bus in the street thing).  All kidding aside, I'm doing well.  I hope to be back pounding the keys later today.

I Am The Tea Party

If you just listen to the news and the Democrats (oops...sorry for the redundancy), you'd be led (literally) to believe that everyone in the Tea Party Movement are anti-government, racist, homophobes who are just one short fuse away from becoming some sort of home-grown terrorist.  If all you did was listen to them, that's what you would think.

It doesn't matter that they can't come up with one concrete example of racism or hatred of homosexuals, you must understand that these people must be dangerous because they are conservatives. Andrew Breitbart put up $100,000 to go to the United Negro College Fund if there was one example from a Tea Party gathering in DC a few weeks back.  (He can do that because he knows it didn't happen.)   Conservatism in the liberal lexicon means racist, homophobe, hater, stupid, etc.  Say a lie often enough and people begin to believe it and this is a good example.

What does it say about a news media that reports as fact that allegations of racial epithets were thrown at some black Congressmen?  (On the other hand, what does it say about the Congressmen who would make such a serious charge when it has now become obvious that it never happened?)  Taking it a bit further, what does it say about an opposition that advocates infiltrating the Tea Party protests to make it appear that there are racists and homophobes involved? 

What are they so afraid of that they must make up these nasty allegations?

They are afraid of people like me who have had enough of the profligate spending and outright corruption of these people ostensibly elected to represent us.

I support the Tea Party Movement.  Am I a racist?  Am I a homophobe?  Do I want to overthrow the government or cause harm to anyone?  I don't think so and I think there are many people who are close to me who would argue I'm none of those.  Are there racists, etc. in the Tea Party movement.  There might be.  There are always a few nut bags in any group.  Tell me there isn't and I'll call you either naïve or stupid.  The plain fact is, we are middle class Americans who see what direction things are going and we are afraid.

We don't particularly care about the melanin content of the President's skin.  We don't care who you sleep with so long as it is a consenting adult.  It's not about those issues.  It's about liberty and freedom.  Every dollar that the government spends that it does not have is slowly eroding your freedom.  In the name of fairness, justice and equality, you are being led down a path that aims to make us all equal as peasants. If you think that you can be taxed into prosperity, you obviously failed at logic and math. 

No one is talking about not paying taxes.  We are saying we are taxed enough.  We see our children and grandchildren's future already taxed beyond what they ever hope to pay and the politicians keep piling it on.  If you can't see it, then by all means, try spending way more than you ever hope to earn and announce to your progeny that they will be responsible for paying for your extravagance.  To put it another way, if you borrow money with absolutely no proof that you can ever pay it back, it's called fraud and that is what our government is in the process (for awhile now) of doing.  You and I would go to jail for it.

The bottom line is simply this:  The Tea Party movement is not about skin color or sexual orientation.  If you think that, then you are either believing the lies fed to you by those who oppose us, or you don't clearly understand the issues and what is at stake here.  Your freedom and liberty are slowly disappearing with every dollar they spend.  When the country borrows money, "the country" is not the one that is indebted.  YOU are the one who owes the money.  You and I are responsible for paying that debt and the more we are indebted, we become nothing more than serfs to a ruling class.

Serfdom is not freedom and that's what the Tea Party Movement is all about.

Last week I was not feeling well.  I'm better now, but I plan on being lousy later this week when I go for another PMI.  (That's Preventive Maintenance Inspection for you non-maintainers)

I thought you might enjoy an email I received recently.  For a little background info, the young man that is talked about in this email is the young man who, in some kind of a pique, decided to shoot up the Tacoma Mall a few years back.

I might add before I start that the title to this entry is the exact wording of the email subject.  I'm sure she meant "put this IN UR blog".  I might also add that the rest of her message is just about as literate.

Here is the pic she sent.  I don't know how old she is, so to be safe, I censored the naughty bits.  That is a pic of Maldonado she is holding and since there are no links in the email, I assume she's on the level and not some spammer.

I hope she grows up a bit.  Maldonado won't even be eligible for parole until he's like 140 years old, so I don't think this romance is going very far.

It's sad.  She's barely literate and seems to see nothing wrong with sending nude pictures of herself to complete strangers.

Anyway, Miss, if you ever find your way back here, I sincerely hope you do better with your life.  Go back to school and learn basic English skills and for God's sake, keep your damned clothes on.

Now, He's Not A Maverick

McCain says he’s no Maverick.

WASHINGTON – Republican Senator John McCain, whose “maverick” breaks with his party won him media acclaim and powered his 2008 White House run, now rejects the moniker, according to Newsweek magazine.

The Arizona lawmaker, looking to thwart a primary challenge from a conservative Republican former congressman, played down his history of working with Democrats on issues like overhauling US immigration policy, curbing big money influence in politics, or fighting climate change.

“I never considered myself a maverick,” Newsweek quoted him as saying. “I consider myself a person who serves the people of Arizona to the best of his abilities.”

When he was running for President, he wanted to make sure everyone knew he was a Maverick and apt to go against his party and support Democrats.   Now, he’s in a struggle against a true Conservative and he wants to shed the name of Maverick.

Well John, your own words are against you.

As California Goes...

California was the gold standard. It was the dream factory.  Walt Disney showed up with 250 bucks and made history.  Countless movie star wannabes served countless customers while hoping for that big break that would launch them into fame and fortune.  The streets were paved with gold and the air was thick with stardust.

What Michigan was to the automobile, California was to the aviation industry.  Sure, Boeing jets were made in Renton and Everett WA, but McDonald-Douglas, Lockheed, Northrop and and a host of aerospace related companies sprang up and thrived around a relatively mild climate and an educated work force.  Now, the only airplane of any consequence (that I'm aware of) still made in California is the McDonald-Douglas Boeing C-17 and I'm guessing that will end at some point in the next few years or so.

Even GM planted a factory there.  Various GM products were built there in the sixties and seventies in the Fremont factory.  They closed it in 1982, but they re-opened it in 84 when GM and Toyota entered into a joint venture called New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc., or NUMMI.  Pontiac Vibes, Toyota Tacoma pickup trucks and Corollas rolled out of that factory until yesterday.  Actually, they stopped making the Vibes last year, but Toyota drove the last Corolla off the line yesterday.  There are no other car factories in California.  The high cost of doing business in the Bear (Socialist) Republic finally drove Toyota out and no, it wasn't because of Toyota's recent problems.  This was scheduled long before those things came to light.  The bottom line: Automobiles are no longer being made in California.

4700 people are now out of work.  I'm guessing that will cascade into a bunch more jobs lost (I've read between 20,000 and 25,000) because the factory will now need zero supplies, zero logistics and zero support.  Anyone whose job depended on that factory producing cars and trucks will be out of work as well.  A derelict factory will pay a whole lot less in property taxes and income taxes from all those laid off workers will quickly be replaced by outlays of unemployment and food stamps.  More mortgages and other loans will go into default.

They are getting a severence package but as KGO-TV News points out:

The 4,700 men and women who built Toyota Corollas and Tacoma Trucks got a severance package, but much of it will be consumed by taxes.

And the tax base?

Despite the impact the laid-off workers and suppliers, the state of California also stands to lose next decade $1 billion in tax revenue.

I also read that California state officials are going to persue federal grants for the laid off workers.  Good luck with that!

They used to say that as California goes, so goes the nation.  California is broke.  While it is headline news, no one seems to be taking it seriously. I suspect that sooner than later, that realization will finally smack the state government and the citizenry in the face with the force of a speeding Peterbilt with a full load of Korean steel.  They've spent themselves into oblivion and their problems aren't because they aren't taxing enough.  The problem is that they've lost their tax base.  Between taxation, regulation and unionization, jobs have went elsewhere.  It's just too costly to do business in California and jobs are leaving.  These days, Hollywood outsources and most movies are shot elsewhere in places that give them big tax and regulatory breaks.  Even Hollywood liberals hate paying taxes and adhering to stupid, ambigiuous and cumbersome regulations.

We are broke as well.  You have to wonder when it will dawn on Congress.
