Despite the fact that he has some of the lowest approval ratings among recent presidents, history will see Barack Obama as the source of America's resurrection. Barack Obama has plunged the country into levels of debt that we could not have previously imagined; his efforts to nationalize health care have been met with fierce resistance nationwide; TARP bailouts and stimulus spending have shown little positive effect on the national economy; unemployment is unacceptably high and looks to remain that way for most of a decade; legacy entitlement programs have ballooned to unsustainable levels, and there is a seething anger in the populace.
That's why Barack Obama is such a good thing for America.
Obama is the symbol of a creeping liberalism that has infected our society like a cancer for the last 100 years. Just as Hitler is the face of fascism, Obama will go down in history as the face of unchecked liberalism. The cancer metastasized to the point where it could no longer be ignored.
Average Americans who have quietly gone about their lives, earning a paycheck, contributing to their favorite charities, going to high school football games on Friday night, spending their weekends at the beach or on hunting trips — they've gotten off the fence. They've woken up. There is a level of political activism in this country that we haven't seen since the American Revolution, and Barack Obama has been the catalyst that has sparked a restructuring of the American political and social consciousness.
I suggest you read the rest at the link above.

Bob, Great find! Thanks for passing that along!

It appears that there are a lot of people who have been making the same observation. It recently occurred to me as well that he might not have intended to heal the blind. But I suppose that could be arguable.
Can we be certain there has been no intent to polarize and divide and then fan the flames of dissent in order to create what could be deemed a constitutional crisis which could ultimately lead to a declaration of a national emergency?
When the Reichstag Fire occurred in February 1933, the direct response was a decree by the government on the very next day which nullified many key civil liberties of German citizens, providing the legal basis for incarceration of political opponents and for the suppression of publications deemed unfriendly to the Nazis. It was one of the first key steps, along with the Enabling Act of March 23, in establishing a dictatorial one-party rule. A classic example of not letting a crisis go to waste, particularly when the crisis is likely to have been created for just that purpose.

John, there's one big difference between American and Germany of 1933. America has a Bill of Rights with a 2nd Amendment. You do make a very good point though.

BobF, you also make a good point about the Second Amendment. There should be no doubt that they've been working on that, too. It's definitely a thorn in their side.
As you may know, Obama spent eight years as the director of the Joyce Foundation, a billion dollar tax emempt organization which has turned millions of dollars into anti-gun "grassroots" organizations. Their goal: judicial elimination of the Second Amendment.
In addition to suspension of civil liberties, stringent firearms registration and licensing laws was key to Nazi Germany's successful identification and confiscation of firearms.
Kristallnacht (The Night of the Broken Glass, the infamous rampage of Nazi's against Germany's Jews, took place in November 1938. Immediately before that took place, all firearms were confiscted from the Jewish victims. It's important to recognize that it was not the entire populace which was disarmed. They targeted specific segments of it - Jews and political opponents.
Finding out who had firearms was not too difficult. The liberal Weimar Republic passed a Firearm Law in 1928 requiring extensive police records on gun owners. Hitler signed a further gun control law in early 1938. Gun registration worked very well for them.
