I have an offer by someone who wanted to contribute, so I'll start that in earnest when I return.  I'll get a blog roll going and for it and all the other necessary admin stuff to get it publicized.  Big things are in the works.

The UAW Has No Incentive To Negotiate

According to Reuters, GM will be parceled out.  The profitable parts will be sold to the government in a fire sale and the losing entities will remain in bankruptcy and probably sold for pennies on the dollar. 

The government has given GM until June 1 to restructure its operations to lower its debt burden and employee costs.

The UAW has no incentive to negotiate anything.  Why should they?  Obama is going to give them and the bond holders the profitable portions and they don't have to make one single concession!

On top of that, the Dear Leader (Gone is my respect for this fascist asshat) is mandating fuel efficiency standards that will add thousands to the cost of a car.  No one is going to be able afford one anyway with cap and trade upping our energy bills to the point we won't even be able to afford a skateboard, let alone a new vehicle!

Good bye GM.  We had a nice ride.

Economic Death By A Thousand Cuts

While we all watch the kabuki theater that is Nanci Pelosi, the world is turning and it is turning on us like a pit bull with sudden blood lust.  Pelosi is pure distraction. She won't be resigning and the Congressional Show Trial Truth Commission won't even call her as a witness.  She will not be resigning.  It may not be meant to be a distraction, but it's working out to be a good one.  A good distraction is never wasted, much like a good crisis.  She will eventually get someone to fall on their sword and lie for her and it will end well for her.

Meanwhile, we are dying a death of a thousand cuts.  Unlike the Chinese model that is designed to deliver exquisite pain for the longest possible time before dying, we are numbed by fancy rhetoric and distracted by political theater as we slowly succumb to economic death.

While Pelosi dances, we get cut again:

Brazil and China will work towards using their own currencies in trade transactions rather than the US dollar, according to Brazil’s central bank and aides to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Brazil’s president.

The move follows recent Chinese challenges to the status of the dollar as the world’s leading international currency.

What that means is that anything, imported from amywhere, will instantly becom more expensive. 

Not that we'll be able to afford anything as soon as Comrade Waxman gets done with his cap and trade bill (or as I like to call it, the Cap American Industry bill).  Not only will it cause the price of everything to skyrocket, including utilities and gasoline, American industries that can afford to do so will beat feet to friendlier countries where the cost of energy is reasonable.  Those that can't will be faced with extremely high energy costs and make it will make it almost impossible for them to grow or even survive.  This will severely handicap American industry and damage the economy beyond the point of return.  Don't worry about paying those high energy costs, you won't have a job to pay the bills anyway.

So watch the show while the American economy and your way of life dies by a thousand cuts.

First, the new blog: 

Drinking Beer With Violence

Well, as much as  I wanted to do a foodie blog, COOKING WITH VIOLENCE was an epic fail.  Frankly, I'm not sure how this will work out, but since it's easier to find time to drink beer than prepare gourmet meals, maybe I'll have better luck.

In any case, I'm gonna talk about beer.  I love craft beer and I enjoy drinking it.  I don't over indulge because frankly, I just can't deal with a hangover and I don't like being drunk.  If they could make a good beer without the alcohol, I'd be all over it.  Since the "near beers" I've tried all taste like crap, I just limit how much I drink.

I'm no expert by any stretch, but I do love beer.  Taste is subjective.  You may hate an IPA I just love and I may love a Stout you absolutely hate.  I'll talk about my likes and dislikes as well as anything beer related that strikes my fancy.

Second, Changes Are Coming:

In the coming days, I'll be revamping this blog.  I do my own banners, and I really loved this one.  Believe it or not, that's not just one airplane with the wing stamped over and over.  It's actually a huge line of C-17s.  I rendered it through a couple of graphics programs I own and thought it came out well.  Way back when I first started, I paid a pro 75 bucks for a banner and I loved it, but I decided I could do as well with a bit of imagination and a decent graphics program.  I bought Photoshop Elements and I have a couple freebie apps to help out. 

In any case, I will be changing the design in the next few weeks.  I will also update my blog roll.  It's horribly out of date and I have a few I need to add.

Third:  Vacation:

Next week, on Wednesday morning, me and Mrs. VW are gonna pack up the van and head for parts east.  We will be headed for Northeast Washington.  We'll be gone until at least Monday the 25th - maybe Tuesday.  I hope to sample some brews on the way and report back.  I will have no way to post.  I can check my email if I have cell service.  (I suppose I could post, but I don't do the texting thing all that well.)

I know that MOGS won't be able to post.  He's still around, but circumstances prohibit his involvement for a while. So I'm hoping Bobf can fill in the void a little.  If anyone else would like to write, drop me a line and we'll discuss it.

Same for the beer blog.  If you  are a beer drinker (and I don't mean American adjunct beers) and want to contribute, let me know.
