Ahmed Hashim Abed is the guy who allegedly led the effort to murder and mutilate some Americans in Faluja. You might remember the incident. It's the one in 2004 where some insurgents hung their captives from a bridge after killing and mutilating them. No outcry from the left about war crimes, but then as far as a lot of them are concerned, only Americans commit war crimes and that starts just by donning a uniform.
The military went about finding this hero of the people to bring him to justice. The Seals captured this sterling human being and turned him over to the Iraqi government. Ahmed then complained that those evil, nasty American Fascist Seals gave him a bloody lip. WAR CRIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Navy SEALs have secretly captured one of the most wanted terrorists in
Iraq — the alleged mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four
Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004. And three of the
SEALs who captured him are now facing criminal charges, sources told
FoxNews.com.
Now three of the heroes that captured this pig of a man are now up on charges that they mistreated him. This is what we've come to folks. This piece of pig sh*t complains he got a bloody lip and we want to ruin the careers of good and decent men.\
The Navy pressed a charge and offered these guys punishment under Article 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice or UCMJ. The navy calls it a Captain's Mast, the Marines call it "office hours" and the other two just call it getting an Article 15. It's non-judicial punishment. Your commander decides the case and administers some form of punishment. Depending upon the rank of the commanding officer (It can't be any officer, it must be an officer who is in your direct chain of command and must have command responsibility over you), determines how severe you can be punished, i.e. fines, reduction in rank or "correctional custody". It was originally designed to handle minor matters and you went on with life. It wasn't a "career ender." Times have changed and it is now just that. You are usually ineligible for reenlistment and in some cases, you are administratively discharged under less than honorable conditions. You always have the option to ask for a court-martial rather than accept the Article 15.
Most of the time, it's usually just wiser to take the Article 15 rather than face a court-martial which can impose much more severe penalties if you are found guilty. In this case, I think it's a wise move. The rules for evidence are much higher for a court-martial. An impartial investigation must be completed and there is full discovery of the evidence. If you are truly not guilty, this is your best bet. I've seen it in my military career.
This shouldn't even be happening. If all this guy got was a fat lip, that's just too bad. These guys aren't cops, they aren't lawyers, they are sailors who are trained to cause death and destrcution. They are not trained in Miranda or to play nice.
I don't know if he got a knuckle sandwich for something he said did or if he smacked himself in the mouth. I don't care. To persecute and prosecute these guys for such a minor incident is obscene and it will do nothing more than further demoralize our armed forces.
Hopefully, the charges will be dismissed and these guys can go back to doing what we've trained them to do. I don't advocate that they should be able to beat him to a bloody pulp, but a fat lip is relatively minor. He's lucky they brought him back alive.
