UPDATE: Wizbangs's Steve Schippert makes this point:
He used an "old fish" in reference to Senator John McCain, directly affirmed by his "stink after 8 years" reference. The implication is that even if John McCain served two terms, there would be no change.
And the lipstick reference is equally clear then, given the above context.
He meant exactly what he meant, the pig!
UPDATE TWO: New McCain Ad
_______________
When does the Palin bashing end? The left wing nutcake brigade is in high gear searching for something - ANYTHING - on Sarah Palin. And when the can't find anything, these scumbag losers make stuff up. Are these really the kind of people we want running this country?
Even St. Obama just had to join in.
LEBANON, Va. -- "That's not change," Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., said of what Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., is offering.
"You know, you can put lipstick on a pig," Obama said, "but it's still a pig."
The crowd rose and applauded, some of them no doubt thinking he may have been alluding to Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's ad lib during her vice presidential nomination acceptance speech last week, "What's the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick."
If it was obvious to his audience, then you can bet that is what this despicable shell of a man was alluding to. In other words, Obama was calling Sarah Palin a pig.
What a man! What class! Obam is the real pig in this.
He can talk about change all he wants, but he is a product of the CORRUPT Chicago DEMOCRAT Machine. His low-life Veep is a so entrenched in Washington, to say he's an agent of change is a real stretch.
Obama says he wants to keep it on issues, but that is another lie. He sent 30 people to Alaska whose only job was to dig up dirt on Palin.
It's no surprise, then, that Democrats have airdropped a mini-army of 30 lawyers, investigators and opposition researchers into Anchorage, the state capital Juneau and Mrs. Palin's hometown of Wasilla to dig into her record and background. My sources report the first wave arrived in Anchorage less than 24 hours after John McCain selected her on August 29.
This isn't about issues, it's about trying to smear your opponent.
Obama can't beat McCain and Palin on the issues, so this is what he and his left-wing, nut job buddies are reduced to.
VW

I had to rewrite my blogpost on this issue three times -- the first post was less than pretty and needed to be revised. I find the word "despicable" to be WAY TOO KIND for this kind of petty, puerile, disgusting action.
This will be THE turning point for his petty little campaign.

VW you do know that McCain said the same pig comment about Hilary Clinton during the primaries?? It's on youtube if you don't believe me. I saw it. That was a good couple of months before the Obama thing. Is it okay for a republican to say it, is that what you are saying??? Is that because republicans are despicable as well?? At least Obama never lied about being in Iraq when he wasn't, At least he actually was in Germany Which Palin lied about as well. At least he didn't leave his home town 20 mil in dept after getting 24 mil in earmarks for the same so said town. At least he wouldn't lie about having his prompter broken so he had to wing it and talk to the people when in fact it wasn't. At least he didn't say thanks but no thanks to the bridge to know where but kept all the money. At least he would never ever make a woman pay for her rape kit before she leaves the hospital which Palin did and oh, by the way if you should God forbid become pregnant form the rape at least he would still let women have the choice of having an abortion. He would never ask a librarian if they would censor books. He would never sit up on stage and say that he was for mothers with children with disabilities but at the same time cut funding for it by 20%. or for her 2 years in office ask for nearly 500 thousand in earmarks at the same time saying they are so bad. Lying happens in both sides. Obama is no paragon but neither is the other side.I would rather have inexperience then a really bad out and out, bold face ,why lie about something so stupid that you know that you are going to be caught at it McCain and Palin.

Kat, I thought you were a whiole lot smarter than this.
The comment by McCain was directed against her healthcare plan, not her personally. READ!!!!!!!!
Palin NEVER said she was in Iraq. It was an aide who made made a misstatement - an honest mistake. Sort of like Obama saying he was in 57 states.
Most of the rest of that is either an out and out lie or hald truth.
Go to Factcheck.org, snopes - SOMEWHERE! Geez, do some research instead of listening to Obama talking points.

actually it was not Obama talking points. I make it a point of not listening to either of there lied filled speeches. These are form watch dog groups who are for neither party. Also from people from her own state that live there and fact check groups who check out the info who are also nonpartisan. The woman I think won a beauty contest and that is how she got the job. I don't think that there is much going on in her brain. She can't even go anywhere without McCain. Unless she is talking to Hannity (Bob Doles republican wet dream). I swear I was all set to vote for McCain but I am not voting for him now. Cuz I don't think the fundamentals of our economy are sound(even if he did cover up what he said and put a spin on it after). I mean come on in one of the highlighted speeches I did hear with those 2 they were talking about how the government needed to be more involved with the banking and then in the very next sentence they were talking about taking the government out. Then I just stopped listening. Couldn't take their very badly done spin anymore. My brain hurt. McCain did vote for Bush 90% of the time. No lies there. That was fact checked. Rape kit was fact checked. The prompter had about 100 or so reporters and the convention people to fact check. She did lie about being in Germany she actually just landed in Ireland to refuel. Fact check. One pass port with no stamp. The town being left in debt by her, fact checked. They built a sports arena on land that was not yet theirs and are being sued for it. Fact checked. The nearly 500 mil that was ear marked for her already rich state was 258 mil the first year and 198 the second. Fact checked. The bridge to know where even though the money was kept even though she said thanks but no thanks is true. She wont talk about it but other republicans have. And even if you don't believe them it has been fact checked. Even if the librarian is out to get her (apparently like all the other people in the world boohoo) the thought is frightening. And lets face it she has come out and stated that she doesn't like abortion for any reason. The cut in money for children with disabilities has also been fact checked. It was cut 20%. Don't just blindly follow, because the devil this year is republican, do some research yourself on an actual nonpartisan web sight.

Try this: http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/sliming_palin.html
* Palin did not cut funding for special needs education in Alaska by 62 percent. She didn’t cut it at all. In fact, she increased funding and signed a bill that will triple per-pupil funding over three years for special needs students with high-cost requirements.
What she cut by 20 percent was a huge increase. It still worked out to a big increase.
I can't be bothered to research every faux pax. Apparently Obam can say anything (and usually does ) and it's OK. Palin missates something, and by god, your up in arms.
Fine.
If you are willing to sell off the security of this country to some guy who is less experienced than even Palin, you go right ahead. A guy that has asked for more millions in earmarks than he has days in the senate.
BTW. Palin asked for funding from congress, not "earmarks" There is a difference. Tell me what it is.
Your still my favorite niece! And I do like that CD you made! :)

It's okay for the republicans to say what they will but not the dems glad we got that cleared up!! She can say anything because she is a woman but can have nothing said in return to her because she is a woman (I will use this for an excuse later) thanks for clearing that up! Glad you like the CD. I have all their work so if you want more just give a holler my favorite (if not misguided) uncle!
