The Old Buffalo Is Ailing

Blogging may be light or sporadic.  The Old Buffalo is in the hospital.  The other day, he had a triple bypass and they installed leads for a pace maker.  He's 81.

He's doing OK, vitals are good,  but we are worried he might not be fighting as hard as he should.  My sisters are there trying to encourage him.  We'll see.  The next day or two is critical.

Would You Like Fries With That?

Perhaps you've heard that LA banned fast feederies in South Central LA.  The hope is that restaurants serving fresh ingredients and markets with organic goodies will have a chance to move in.  The idea is that if they can't go to a convenient McDonald's, they'll go to a convenient Bistro.  When they want dinner, they'll go over to Luigi's Fresh Organic Market instead of some local food store.  I wrote about this when they were considering this ban a couple of weeks ago.

Since the city has seen fit to actually pass the ban, I can't wait to see the number of upscale restaurants and food markets that will now move in to fill the gaps.

I can just see how this will work out.

C:  What ta F*** is this S***?  All I want is a M*****f***** Cheeseburger with some G**D*** fries and S***. 

W:  Very good sir.  We offer several different cheeseburgers.  May I suggest our Greekburger with melted feta cheese, tomato, bib lettuce and our own house mustard.  Instead of fries, may I suggest our Greek side salad topped with kalamata olives and yogurt.

C:  Look M*****F*****, I wanna M*****F***** cheeseburger, fries and another F***** beer, not some Faggy S***!

W:  Right away sir:

Later....

W:  Would you care for some desert, sir? 

C:  F*** that S***!  Just gimme the G**D*** check and shut the F*** up!

W:  Very good sir!

C:  $29.53 for a lousy cheeseburger, fries and a couple of beers?  Who in the F*** do you think I am, M*****F*****, Bill F***** Gates?

W:  Sir, we aren't McDonalds.  We only offer fresh healthy, lean, Grade - A, prime beef and fresh vegetables bought fresh each day.

McCain And Leadership

UPDATE.  The person that posted this on his forum called me on the phone.  He explained to me the context and I'm cool with it.  I tend to think he's not completely in the tank yet for Obama.  I hold out hope.  I kind of figured he was mostly stirring things up.  In any case, I think my comments on leadership and McCain are on target.-----

This was said in response to this post on a message board by someone who probably thought I wouldn't find out:

I just can't take this sh*t anymore. Have we forgotten that the Commander-In-Chief thing is only ONE F**KING PART of the job? I know we're in a war (2 actually), but there's so many other responsibilities that go with the job of President. I understand that they're grasping at straws here, but I just wish they'd f**king let it go.

John McCain would make a better Commander-In-Chief than Barack Obama. We got it. It's on the chalkboard. We can move on now. KTHXBYE.

He's right, there is more than just being Commander-in-Chief.  But if Obama isn't up to the job of leading the Armed Forces, he's certainly not up to the job of leading the nation.  It's called LEADERSHIP.  It's something that most liberals know little about.

I want someone who understands leadership, that's been a leader and knows what it means to be one.  Obama is NOT THAT MAN!

The Presidency is all about being the LEADER of the free world, not a member of the committee (Provided he even knows which committee he's on!).

When disaster strikes, be it man-made or natural, it's the President we look to, not a congressional committee.

I'll admit that McCain was not my first choice.  On the other hand, he's heads and shoulders above Obama.  I have no love for Hillary Clinton, but I would vote for her before Obama.  Why?  Because Hillary is a leader.  I may not like her politics, but I think she has a bigger set for Jesse to cut off than Obama ever had.

Obamazoid Drivers

Mrs. VW and I loaded up the VW Mobile (No, not a VW bus, it's Chevy Uplander van) this AM and headed out of Tacoma for the coast. We stopped in Aberdeen and picked up our daughter and her family and then on to Ocean City State park.  We left fairly early so traffic was no problem.

The weatherman said it was supposed to be cold and rainy out on the coast, and indeed, it started out that way.  By the time we hooked west at Olympia, it was sprinkling enough to run the wipers all the way to Aberdeen.  We attended church with our daughter's family and then changed out of our Sunday goto meetin' clothes before we headed for the beach.  The weatherman was wrong.  As soon as we got there, the clouds started clearing.  We'd prepared a picnic spread a head of time so we set the table with sandwiches, chips, root beer and proceeded to eat, drink and be merry.

We packed up our goodies and by the time we got to the beach, the sun was out and it was warm enough that we didn't need our jackets.  Mrs. VW, and all the kids and grandkids did a little wading in the surf.  Meanwhile, I kept a couple of kites flying nearby. 

After a fun day on the beach, we packed it all back up, dropped the daughter and her hubby off at their home in Aberdeen and left before they realized we had their daughters...maybe they just pretended not to know...in any case, we headed back to Tacoma with our granddaughters safely strapped in their safety seats.  Mom and Dad will be coming up Tuesday to reclaim the little blighters.

Coming back, the traffic was a bear.  The first part between Aberden and Olympia wasn't too bad, but twice, there were cars in the left lane maybe doing 50 in a 60 mph zone.  Both cars had Obama '08 bumper stickers on them.  We made the merge onto I-5 at Olympia and proceeded northbound.  We were doing OK until we got to Lacey, justy north of the capital.  PARKING LOT!

As we slowly maneuvered through the mess, we noticed there were cars in the left lane, running slow with frustrated cars passing them by on the right.  Traffic was slow, but have you ever been in a jam and wondered who "that guy" was that was leading the pack doing 20 mph.  She (Most were women) drives a late model small car and has an Obama sticker (amongst others such as anti-Bush stickers).

I'm not saying that all Obamazoids do that, but when I saw 4 or 5 on this one 80 mile trip hogging the left lane either going below the speed limit or slower than even the traffic jam around them, it makes you wonder. 

In any case, we all arrived home safe and sound after a wonderful day of fun at the beech - despite some crazy Obamazoid drivers bent on daring me to go all McCain on them.

Critical Massholes

Once a month in (they say) about 100 cities around the world, bicyclists get together for a ride through the city.  In Seattle, it appears that there are a 100 or so riders.  It's just a guess from the photos. Unlike you or I, they get a free pass to ignore all traffic laws, block intersections with no authority and harass any driver that might assert his or her right to be on that same road.  It's the epitome of liberal elitism. 

Sometimes that harassment turns to outright vandalism and assault.

Seattle Police spokesman Mark Jamieson says that on Friday between 100 and 300 bicyclists were riding down a street in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, blocking traffic on both lanes, when a man and a woman in a Subaru station wagon tried to pull out of a parking spot.

But some of the bicyclists blocked them, sat on the car and began banging on the vehicle. Words were exchanged between the male driver and the bicyclists.

The driver feared being assaulted and backed up, but bumped a biker and enraged the group. In response, some of the bikers smashed the windshield and rear window. He tried to drive away but hit another bicyclist.

The car stopped a block down and the bicyclists surrounded the car. One biker punched the driver through an open window and another used a knife to slash the tires.

When the driver got out of the car a male suspect struck him with an unknown object in the back of the head. The driver was later taken to the hospital. His female companion was not injured.

Don't get in their way!  They also feel that they have the right to damage your car and beat you to a pulp.

Here's the deal.  Bicyclists do not have the right to break the law.  Ostensibly, they are suppose to obey the traffic laws and not impede vehicular traffic.  I don't know if it's happened in Seattle, bit in other cities, these two-wheeled terrorists have impeded emergency vehicle.

Bicycles are not registered, and there is no way to tax them for the roads they use.  A car here in WA pays 55.9 cents per gallon of gas for the privilege of driving on those streets.

The police need to stop treating these people with kid gloves.  They need to start requiring these asshats to get a parade or demonstration permit and put up a bond in case something goes wrong.

That's right folks, that NGR combo on that plate is RACIST!  If you add three more letters in your mind, you will conjure up the dreaded "N" word.

Why Obama Should Not Be President Part 9,874

From a speech by John McCain today with a military veteran audience in Denver:

Eighteen months ago, America faced a crisis as profound as any in our history. Iraq was in flames, torn apart by violence that was escaping our control. Al Qaeda was succeeding in what Osama bin Laden called the central front in their war against us. The mullahs in Iran waited for America's humiliation in Iraq, and the resulting increase in their influence. Thousands of Iraqis died violently every month. American casualties were mounting. We were on the brink of a disastrous defeat just a little more than five years after the attacks of September 11, and America faced a profound choice. Would we accept defeat and leave Iraq and our strategic position in the Middle East in ruins, risking a wider war in the near future? Or would we summon our resolve, deploy additional forces, and change our failed strategy? Senator Obama and I also faced a decision, which amounted to a real-time test for a future commander-in-chief. America passed that test. I believe my judgment passed that test. And I believe Senator Obama's failed.

We both knew the politically safe choice was to support some form of retreat. All the polls said the "surge" was unpopular. Many pundits, experts and policymakers opposed it and advocated withdrawing our troops and accepting the consequences. I chose to support the new counterinsurgency strategy backed by additional troops -- which I had advocated since 2003, after my first trip to Iraq. Many observers said my position would end my hopes of becoming president. I said I would rather lose a campaign than see America lose a war. My choice was not smart politics. It didn't test well in focus groups. It ignored all the polls. It also didn't matter. The country I love had one final chance to succeed in Iraq. The new strategy was it. So I supported it. Today, the effects of the new strategy are obvious. The surge has succeeded, and we are, at long last, finally winning this war.

Senator Obama made a different choice. He not only opposed the new strategy, but actually tried to prevent us from implementing it. He didn't just advocate defeat, he tried to legislate it. When his efforts failed, he continued to predict the failure of our troops. As our soldiers and Marines prepared to move into Baghdad neighborhoods and Anbari villages, Senator Obama predicted that their efforts would make the sectarian violence in Iraq worse, not better.

And as our troops took the fight to the enemy, Senator Obama tried to cut off funding for them. He was one of only 14 senators to vote against the emergency funding in May 2007 that supported our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. He would choose to lose in Iraq in hopes of winning in Afghanistan. But had his position been adopted, we would have lost both wars.

Three weeks after Senator Obama voted to deny funding for our troops in the field, General Ray Odierno launched the first major combat operations of the surge. Senator Obama declared defeat one month later: "My assessment is that the surge has not worked and we will not see a different report eight weeks from now." His assessment was popular at the time. But it couldn't have been more wrong.

By November 2007, the success of the surge was becoming apparent. Attacks on Coalition forces had dropped almost 60 percent from pre-surge levels. American casualties had fallen by more than half. Iraqi civilian deaths had fallen by more than two-thirds. But Senator Obama ignored the new and encouraging reality. "Not only have we not seen improvements," he said, "but we're actually worsening, potentially, a situation there."

If Senator Obama had prevailed, American forces would have had to retreat under fire. The Iraqi Army would have collapsed. Civilian casualties would have increased dramatically. Al Qaeda would have killed the Sunni sheikhs who had begun to cooperate with us, and the "Sunni Awakening" would have been strangled at birth. Al Qaeda fighters would have safe havens, from where they could train Iraqis and foreigners, and turn Iraq into a base for launching attacks on Americans elsewhere. Civil war, genocide and wider conflict would have been likely.

Above all, America would have been humiliated and weakened. Our military, strained by years of sacrifice, would have suffered a demoralizing defeat. Our enemies around the globe would have been emboldened. Terrorists would have seen our defeat as evidence America lacked the resolve to defeat them. As Iraq descended into chaos, other countries in the Middle East would have come to the aid of their favored factions, and the entire region might have erupted in war. Every American diplomat, American military commander, and American leader would have been forced to speak and act from a position of

Senator Obama told the American people what he thought you wanted to hear. I told you the truth. From the early days of this war, I feared the administration was pursuing a mistaken strategy, and I said so. I went to Iraq many times, and heard all the phony explanations about how we were winning. I knew we were failing, and I told that to an administration that did not want to hear it. I pushed for the strategy that is now succeeding before most people even admitted that there was a problem.

Fortunately, Senator Obama failed, not our military. We rejected the audacity of hopelessness, and we were right. Violence in Iraq fell to such low levels for such a long time that Senator Obama, detecting the success he never believed possible, falsely claimed that he had always predicted it. There have been almost no sectarian killings in Baghdad for more than 13 weeks. American casualties are at the lowest levels recorded in this war. The Iraqi Army is stronger and fighting harder. The Iraqi Government has met most of the benchmarks for political progress we demanded of them, and the nation's largest Sunni party recently rejoined the government. In Iraq, we are no longer on the doorstep of defeat, but on the road to victory.

Senator Obama said this week that even knowing what he knows today that he still would have opposed the surge. In retrospect, given the opportunity to choose between failure and success, he chooses failure. I cannot conceive of a Commander in Chief making that choice.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why I'm supporting John McCain over Barack Obama.  Obama is the choice of failure.

How Can We Trust Them?

Do you remember the flag pin kerfuffle right after 9/11 happened?  The flag was in.  Everyone put an American flag out in front of their house.  Flag bumper stickers were everywhere and the occasional TV Journalist could be seen with a flag pin, but many said they wouldn't because it might perceived as some kind of bias. 

Remember that? We wouldn't want someone "performing a thankless duty, the dirty work of our constitutional system"  to be thought of as pro American now, would we?  Those guardians of the Constitutional hinterlands need to maintain their impartiality!  No politician, political party or corporate robber baron should be allowed to sleep easy!  Yeah right!  That is until Barack  Obama!

I don't think there is anyone anymore that doesn't acknowledge at least some bias in the media toward Obama.  CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS and NBC are "in the tank" as they say.  Chris Matthews gets a thrill up his leg.  Most of the female reporterettes swoon at the mention of his name.

So how can we trust the media anymore?  It's obvious they are no longer doing constitutional dirty work and now working as PR flaks for the Obamessiah!

If these so-called journalists did their job instead of vying to be the most sycophantic Obama acolyte, McCain would win in a walk.  We would fiond out that Obama has no experience.  We would find out he is an anti-American radical that is friends with William Ayers - an avowed anti-Americican terrorist.

We would find out that he has absolutely no foreign policy experience.  We would know that he has absolutely no idea about the military and its capabilities.

We cannot trust the press because they will not backdown - even under the strongest evidence of Obama's incompetence.  The Press in the United States are nothing more than propagandists for the left.  Even the National Enquirer has more credibilty then most of these weasels!

More Than 750,000 Fail To Show Up

My son called me this morning laughing that only 250,000 people showed up to hear Obama’s speech in Germany yesterday. I asked what’s so funny about that because 250,000 is a lot of people. He laughed again and said “because they were expecting over 1,000,000 to show up. 

He was right. I checked out the expected numbers here and here.

All last night the MSM reported that over 200,000 cheering people showed up to hear Obama but none of them reported the number was much lower than expected. Matter-of-fact, a Google search of the expected numbers revealed the predictions but when clicking on the links, the headlines have been changed or updated to reflect the numbers that did show, with no reference to the expected million. Apparently over 750,000 German Citizens were at work supporting the close to 250,000 that had nothing better to do yesterday afternoon. That’s the kind of American Obama wants for us; those who work supporting those who don't.
