Tomorrow will be the official opening of the McChord Air Expo 2008. But today, we who work there were treated to the the sneak preview of tomorrow's official show.
First there was the heritage flight of the P-51 Mustang and the F-15 Eagle.
This is similar to what we saw. It's an awesome dance.
We saw an F-18 pass low over the runway at just the point where the vapor cone starts to form as he approached the speed of sound.
We also watched as C-17s performed their own brand of aerial maneuvers and then the show finished with the USAF Thunderbirds.
I'll be there tomorrow to watch the show and see the static displays.
See ya there!

...and we heard the show all day long as I was working in the ER.
Me: So what brings you to the ER today?
Patient: Roar!
Me: Did you just roar at me?
Patient: No, I think that was another airplane flying about 10 feet over the roof of the hospital.

Braden,
Those of us who've been around that roar for awhile are used to it. We don't call it a roar though. To us, it's the sound of freedom!

VW said, "Those of us who've been around that roar for awhile are used to it. We don't call it a roar though. To us, it's the sound of freedom!"
Amen to that VW, Amen. I hope you enjoy the air show and I wish for all Americans for once in their lives to just appreciate the freedom's we do have.
Freedom is never guaranteed - it is a work in progress and worth fighting for.

Off we go into the wild blue yonder,
Climbing high into the sun;
Here they come zooming to meet our thunder,
At 'em boys, Give 'er the gun! (Give 'er the gun hey!)
Down we dive, spouting our flame from under,
Off with one hell of a roar!*
We live in fame or go down in flame. Hey!
Nothing can stop the U.S. Air Force!
