Let's Make A Deal

There are some in Europe and in other places that have this idiotic view that they should have some say in our Presidential election..  This isn't a new idea.  It was raised during the last Presidential election by some British moonbat and it didn't take long into this election cycle for another liberal European to beat the drum.

Some so-called journalist named Evita Neef wrote an opinion in the Brussells  De Standard demanding that we count her vote.

American presidential elections are not “home affairs.” American decisions have repercussions all over the globe. The American mortgage crisis affects banks in Europe. The insatiable American demand for oil makes the Arabian sheiks rich. The American refusal to care for the environment causes the North Pole ice to melt and coastal areas in Asia to flood. A weakened dollar and an immense budget deficit affect the global economy.

Hence, the world should be given the right to vote. Because the current situation is a blatant case of taxation without representation, against which the Americans rebelled in 1776. But of course the world will not be allowed to vote. The best we can hope for is that the Americans choose a leader who is deeply aware of the U.S.’s responsibility, as a superpower, for the rest of mankind.

Ms. Neef's thinking is so shallow it almost qualifies as not thinking at all.  Her reasoning runs more along the lines of a petulant teenager, than anything a reasoned and seasoned adult might contemplate.  It seems to be almost a self parody.

Indeed, our birthright is taxation without representation.  We broke off from our European masters because of their elitist thinking that they owned us and it appears that in the last 231 years or so, their attitudes haven't significantly changed.  They still think of us as children.  The difference today is that they see us not as their ill-tempered off-spring that threw a tantrum two centuries ago, rather now they see us as an eighteen-year-old bully that disrespects their wisdom in their approaching dotage.

OK, Ms. Neef, We'll make a deal.  You can vote in our election, but like any deal, there has to be some sort of reciprocation.  Since voting for our President would be a huge concession, we need a similar concession from you.

The reason that you can make such outlandish suggestions is because of the generosity of the Americans over the last 100 years.  It's the same generosity that has pulled you out of two world wars.  There are generous, nay, copious quantities of American blood spilled upon your soil.  In your own country of Belgium the bodies of thousands of brave Americans still consecrate your soil for freedom.

Even after the two world wars in which we freed you from the yoke of oppressors, we continued to guarantee your freedom from Soviet domination.  We fed you and clothed you and all of your European brethren and kept you safe to develop into what is now modern Europe.  Indeed, we asked little in return except for your friendship.  It is our navy that protects your shores, our airplanes that free your skies. It was our army that stood on your frontiers during the Cold War facing down the Soviet tanks.

If you want to start voting in our elections, then we need reparations.  We want some payback for all that we've done.  We want you to start helping to pay for the protection that we've offered over the decades.  We want you to understand the threats to your freedom and even to your very existence.  We demand that you switch your loyalty from your European nannies to us and our kind of freedom.

I know, it's a high price, but nothing is free.  We Americans have understood that concept more than anyone else in the world.  And if freedom is to remain, it will be because of a strong America and not a dottering Europe.

It took me FOREVER to finish reading this because I was laughing so hard at what "Ms." Neef wrote.

She could be the poster child for the "Blame America" crowd. I do however wonder why they all ignore China, you know China, the worlds worst environmental destructor's and dog killing/kid poisoning bastards to live.

If you get to vote in our elections then you relinquish control of your "country" to us. You will be subject to US laws, monetary policy, and (gasp) legal requirements for environment, cars etc.

Their favorite sport is bashing America and blaming America for everything - now they want to be players to control the rules of their sport.

They have no appreciation for what we have given them.
