I suppose it's time for me to write this. It's been a heavy burden to me and I really must face it. My dear wife has known it, I think, for awhile. They always say that a spouse is the first to know. I don't know if I believe that. I've known a few that kept it hidden for years and years. I've heard in some cases, the spouse went to their grave with the secret.
I've seen my kids give me the look. I've seen their faces and the whispering behind my back. How long have they known? I don't know and it is a bit unnerving.
Lately, I've been getting mail from a national organization. I don't know how they knew. I swear I never signed up to get their newsletter. What's worse, despite my denials, my wife gives me the envelope with my name in the address block and just sighs. The look in her eyes tells me she doesn't believe me.
So I'm just going to say it and SAY IT LOUD AND PROUD!!!
I'M GRAY!!!!!
I feel so much better now. I've been denying it for years. My driver's license still says brown, but my hair has definitely gone gray!
How in hell the AARP found out and started sending me junk mail is still a mystery!

LOL they got me too! They're out there and they're watching!!!
I owe each and every gray hair to my daughter ~ as soon as she turned 13 and grew those legs! I am so thankful we both survived high school...tho why it's my head of hair that took the brunt of it, I still do not understand.
(at least now, she spends most of her time covered up in a uniform ~ I absolutely refuse to think about weekends.)

VW -
I must confess that I resisted the urge to read ahead to discover who 'outed' you. I'm glad I waited.
Having just turned 50 6 months ago or so I, too, am getting spammed by AARP. I've asked the much younger trophy wife if she wants me to join so she can gain access to the benefits.
You've likely been married a while so I'll ask you ... what does "La, la, la, la, la ... I'm not listening ... I'm too YOUNG to be married to an AARPer!!" mean, in your opinion??
Great site! I enjoy visiting. Keep posting my posts over here and I'll be forced to do something nice and we wouldn't want THAT to happen, now would we?
Blessings,

I think AARP has connections to the Social Security Administration. How else can they tell exactly when you turn 50? You don't have to remember when your 50th birthday is, AARP will let you know.

I loved that post! Hilarious! Witty. A nice change of pace.
I can't believe a corporate organization like that has access to your birth records. No wonder Americans are concerned about privacy issues.

Glad you all enjoyed it. I actually started getting their crap 4 years ago as I'm 54.
What inspired me to write this? I haven't a clue. I was just in one of those moods.
