Witnesses reported flames rising up to 200 feet into the air. Heat exceeded 2,750 degrees and caused the steel beams holding up the interchange from eastbound I-80 to eastbound Interstate 580 above to buckle and bolts holding the structure together to melt, leading to the collapse, California Department of Transportation director Will Kempton said.
One of the main points in the idiotic truther's arguments is that a fuel fire won't melt steel. I guess that just got shot down!
Can we now shut these people up?

I thought exactly the same thing when I first heard this. Idiots.

Unfortunately, nothing will ever shut them down, because lunatics can't be reasoned with. They will always see some kind of conspiracy in anything that happens. You can tell them a rose is a rose, but if they think it's a daffodil, it will remain so.

Isn't that how the twin towers buckled? The heat from the burning plane fuel weakened the steel girders to the point they gave way?
