Immigration Violaters Stage Protest Over Jail Conditions
It's one thing to treat prisoners fairly, or at least as much as possible, but it's quite another to treat them "special" and that is what these people awaiting immigration hearings are wanting. Now, I don't know if they are all here illegally or there are other charges, but it doesn't matter, I'm going to assume the the vast majority of them are illegal invaders and leave it at that.
Here are some of their demands:
Monmouth County Undersheriff Ted Freeman said 132 inmates on Sunday refused to eat or participate in activities because they wanted, among other things, more food and Spanish-speaking officers, and for a television set to be fixed.
Here are a bunch of criminals, most likely incarcerated for being here illegally and they want more food, more Spanish speaking officers and a working TV. And what gets me is that the warden has been meeting with them all day kissing their collective illegal tushes. Something is wrong with this picture.
"The warden has been meeting with them all day, and their concerns have been met," Freeman told the Asbury Park Press. "The demonstration — or whatever you want to call it — is over."
Freeman did not expect food servings to change, saying all inmates get three meals a day, for 3,400 calories. Inmates also can buy items such as crackers.
And while the television had been replaced, Freeman said he did not know how the request for more Spanish-speaking officers would be resolved.
Can you imagine if I was in a Mexican jail for an "immigration hearing", do you suppose the warden would be concerned about whether or not I wanted more food, or English speaking corrections officers or whether the TV set worked (if there was even a TV anywhere in the jail)?
Granted, we expect prisoners to be fed a decent diet and it seems that they are getting an adequate amount to eat. There shouldn't be much more expectation that a meal, a dry place to sleep and humane treatment. After that - suck it up, fella. You broke the law, you do the time.
More proof the inmates are literally running the asylum!

And, if you were being held in a Mexican jail, the least you could expect is a good beating.
When we were flying Elf One missions out of Saudi Arabia back in 1980, if we had a GI get thrown in jail, he would starve unless the 1st Sgt brought him food daily. They didn't burden their people with the cost of feeding prisoners.
This warden needs to grow a pail like Sheriff Joe Arpaio and house these criminals in tents.

I was part of Elf One! I was in Al Jubayl in 1982 on top of a hill at a radar site.
We were AWACS back up watching the Gulf coast.

Inmates can buy more than just crackers. replace Crackers with Candy bars, and for some reason the entire tone of the article changes just a little bit.

We were flying 135's out of Riyadh, refueling AWACS. I was there 4 times between 1980 - 1982. Someplace, I've got some good pictures refueling the AWACS with the oil fields in the background...30,000 feet below.

He was at Riyadh on the flightline and I was across the country at Al Jubayl next to the Arabian (Persian) Gulf up on top of a big hill babysitting sitting a bunch of turbine generators that ran a radar site.
