I am 100% for this bill!

U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn, (R-T), has introduced legislation that would prevent illegal immigrants from receiving credit cards from American financial institutions.
The Photo Identification Security Act would require banks to use what Blackburn calls “secure forms of identification” to obtain credit.
In a statement put out by her office, Blackburn stated that:
Bank of America “has come under fire in response to reports that it allows illegal immigrants access to credit cards without proper documentation.”
“This bill closes a critical loophole that banking institutions have used to circumvent the letter of the law they have used to target illegal aliens as a new source of revenue. It says to banks and illegal immigrants alike, ‘You can’t get a Visa, without a visa.’”

Have you seen the commercial BofA is running for this program??? It's pathetic - they have a bunch of illegals looking into something that shows them a reflection of what their life could be - as if a credit card will make their life so much better. Their tag line is something like BofA... the bank of opportunity.

This is old news. Back when I was in Korea in the late '90's, I often heard stories from Korean colleagues of people they knew going on credit card sprees while on trips to the U.S. They'd apply and get a card sent to a U.S. address, get a friend or cousin who is a citizen to pick it up and give it to them when they arrived. Then they would go max out the card, leave the U.S. and a big debt behind. How exactly it was done I do not know, but it was something notorious to my Korean colleagues.

BOA supposedly set a limit of $500 for these credit cards. Let's say that 3,000,000 illegals apply for and get these cards. Let's also say that 1,000,000 of these illegals charge the limit on their cards and then skip out on the payments. After all, they've no regard for the laws of the United States and the cards are probably under false names anyways. That's going to leave a debt of 500,000,000 dollars of one half billion dollars. My question is, who's going to absorb that loss? Is Bank of America? Or, is the government going to bail them out? BOA isn't going to absorb this loss, so it's going to be most likely the American Taxpayers...after all, GW will see to it.

Canucki, I'm sure they aren't the only ones in on that scam.
Bob, You make a great point. There is nothing to stop them from dropping a loaded card, getting another ID and getting a new card. I'd say half a billion is a low figure.
Kelly, I haven't seen it, but it's probably best I don't. I'd hurl something at the TV!
