My old box is dying. After over 4 1/2 years of faithful service, it's ready for retirement. It's been my baby. I built it from the motherboard up. A couple of months ago, I had to do a heart transplant when the power supply died.
It's old and slow. It has a decent CPU , an AMD XP2000 chip, for a brain . It started with 512 MB of Ram and I've since doubled that. I've had to replace the CD-ROM drive awhile back ago. I updated the Video card about a year ago from an Nvidia GeForce 400 with 64 MB to an Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 or 5500 (I don't remember which) with 256 MB of Video RAM. I also upgraded the video monitor to a Dell 17 inch flat panel a year or more back.
I ordered the new box from Dell. I looked at HP, Gateway, eMachine, Microtel and even an iMac and decided on the Dell. I've ordered 3 others from Dell over the pst few years and I have to say that so far, I've had no real problems. I'm sure there are horror stories out there. I'm hoping this goes as well and works as well as the others.
