Today, I've received several emails calling me a racist and or calling me stupid. One commenter called me an American terrorist. Another one insulted me and I edited his comment to reflect differently. Don't come to my blog, on bandwidth I pay for (I pay for this; TypePad is not a free service) and call me names.
One lady named Carol B. (I won't reveal her last name or her employer) sent me an email calling me a racist using her company email:
[Oh but you are] a racist. Waaay down deep, it's the sight of all those Black people on the rooftops that set you off. Didn't have the decency to die for white america, and so, now to want to bulldoze their city. (The words in the brackets were the subject line - VW)
But it's probably true you don't hate old people and children. Your own
parents and kids are hunky dory. But those EXPENDABLE creatures; well, who
would miss THEM? Ah, the soft bigotry of low expectations, indeed.
Nothing soft about you, not with eight kids, at least.
Your brain is the soft spot, pal.
So say it loud and say it proud: I AM a Racist!
Quick, get the sheets.
Carol
Needless to say, I forwarded Carol's email to her VP over Human Relations to suggest that they advise their employee that sending hate mail using their company's domain isn't a good idea.
Dear Mr. [VP of Human Resources]I'm not exactly sure why [Carol] sees fit to write me and make these spurious charges. She neither knows me, nor does she know my background or even my race:
I have a blog and my point of view is unabashedly conservative, but to write me an email (concerning a post I did about New Orleans) and calling me a racist, using company email at that, should be a concern to you and your company's reputation. I would hope that [Carol] is not representative of how your company treats people they don't even know. For the record, sir, I am not a racist, nor do I advocate anything of the kind. My adopted daughter is black and consequently, her daughter (my grandchild) is black. The sight of anyone in distress or danger would concern me deeply - regardless of skin color. My remarks were not racist and you are invited to see for yourself. http://www.violenceworker.com/my_weblog/2007/01/bulldoze_new_or.htmlThe name "Violence Worker" is tongue in cheek I do not advocate violence.I work for a major aerospace company and defense contractor. I would not dream of using my work email to insult someone. If I did something similar, I would expect repercussions.Sincerely,
[VW]
Me thinks Carol will think twice about acting like a twit - at least using company resources - again.I regret that company resources were used to send the response; please rest assured this matter is being addressed. Again, thank you for making us aware of this correspondence.
As for the rest of you intolerant numbskulls, here's the deal. Nobody is going to bulldoze the whole town down. Yes, I used a bit of hyperbole, but you folks need to get a life!
I am not a racist. I don't want to see anyone die or be in distress. Idiots!
Your moronic charges of racism tell me that you are intolerant little immature brats who resort to name calling the minute you see something by someone you disagree with.
If you'd like to discuss the rebuilding of NOLA and what should and shouldn't be done, I'll be happy to oblige. If all you want to do is call me a racist or other stupid names, feel free, but know that I might edit your comments and ignore your hate-filled emails, unless of course you are stupid enough to use your company's email address. At that point, I'll do for you what I did for Carol. I'm sure that the Violence Worker is not one of her favorite people at the moment!!
Most of you are cowards anyway. You use phony or throwaway addresses. That tells me you don't have the courage of your convictions. Cowards!

What does race have to do with New Orleans? How does advocating bulldozing a city built on a swamp, below sea level between a river and lake make somebody racist?
People sure love pulling that race card out. Calling someone a racist makes them feel superior, like a big brother to those they perceived are being picked on. You know the type: without me, you would be nothing. But, that's the way of the liberal left. When they shot their wad; spent their ammo, they will always result to name calling and accusations. I do give them credit here as I haven't seen any result to the filthy gutter language I've seen on other blogs when they can no longer carry on an intelligent conversation.
