Air America Radio, a liberal talk and news radio network, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, a network official told the AP.
Air America has been on the ropes for awhile. Whether they emerge from bankruptcy or not, and in what form if they do, remains to be seen.
There have also been accusations of an unethical loan from a Boys and Girls club in New York.
The bottom line is that there wasn't the listenership to justify their continued operation.
The marketplace is often a harsh mistress.

Does Air America broadcast internationally or locally?

I think they used to be on one of the satellites - XM or sirrus or whatever it is. Most of what is left is on low power AM. They've never been on the blow torches. Too costly.

Too bad. Sounds like it was good, informative radio. Oh well, there's still NPR, hopefully that will stay on air.
