We are leaving in a couple of hours for the airport, headed for the belly of the liberal beast - San Francisco.
Thirdee (and I hope Desert Dame) will be helping out next week while we are visiting the in-laws. Please make her feel welcome.
Whatever you do -- don't call it "Frisco". You would be violating an edict of Emperor Norton I.
"Whoever after due and proper warning shall be heard to utter the abominable word "Frisco", which has no linguistic or other warrant, shall be deemed guilty of a High Misdemeanor, and shall pay into the Imperial Treasury as penalty the sum of twenty-five dollars."
If you don't know who Emperor Norton is, you need to find out about the only monarch (other than the Kennedy's) in the history of the US.
I'll consider it a High Misdemeanor if you don't go read about Joshua Norton,
We'll be back next Friday.
Long Live Norton I, Emperor of the United States and Protector of Mexico!
( I might even try and get a picture of his grave while I'm there!)

just stopped by via blogmad. interesting thoughts. nice to see someone proud of their military contribution! my husband served 32yrs for our country(Canada) he was injured in the gulf(attached to NATO) now we have a life sentance from his service. That's something we live with now each day-but very proud of what he did and stands for. I salute all those who have and are serving their countries.

Seeing as I was born just south of San Fran, and my father was born and raised there, I can say, with authority, that calling it Frisco is a definate sign of those that don't live there.
Mostly we'd call it "the city". Or San Fran.
