Does anyone remember this:
¢
For those of you younger than probably 30, it used to be fairly common. It was included on most typewriters. It was above the “6” key where the caret symbol now resides on most computer keyboards.
It’s a “cents” symbol and it looked like this in use:
99¢
Now, we use the decimal $.99 instead of the symbol.
Just waxing nostalgic for a moment.

I'm finding more and more these days that,"waxing nostalgic" makes me depressed.
I was watching this kid, on a beautiful day, go walking by my apartment. His eyes glued to a gameboy, fingers working furiously. He never looked up. I saw him walk by 5 or 6 times doing the same thing.
Back in the day, when I was his age, we used to run, play hide- and-go-seek. Horse, red light/green light, you know physical stuff.
Of course that was back in the day when Atari was the only thing going. And the only "videos we had to watch were "beta's". LOL.

I remember that key as well, and never even knew I missed it until I saw it again. Times sure are changing, and I am thinking not for the better.
Actually you chose Betamax, but there was still VHS. VHS just won the battle, even though, technically speaking, Beta was better.
However, I do believe that Atari was the first game console.
Blip, bloop, blip, boop. ;^)

I don't remember having the cents key. But, I often look for it and think-how silly NOT to have a cents key.
Usually, I look for it, can't find it, then ponder for a moment what to do. Then it dawns on me that I have to do what you suggested, which is to use a decimal and dollar sign.
I think using the cents key would be much, much effective. ;)

I know I posted twice about this today, I think something happened to those posts.
There are a few ways to get the ¢ key. Hold down: RightAlt-Shift-C to get it. The Left Alt key won't do it.
RightAlt-C gives you the Copyright ©.
