I like the show “Law and Order” and it’s various incarnations such as CI and SVU. All of the actors make it believable (I loved Jerry Orbach, talk about typecast!). Richard Belzer, who plays Detective John Munch on SVU might be a decent actor (Certainly better then the stiff-as-ice Ice-T) but I’ve really decided I don’t much care for him as a person.
From Newsbusters:
When Congresswoman Ileanna Ros-Lehtinen contended Friday night, on HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher, that servicemen she's met in Iraq are “saying 'we're proud of our mission, we know what we're doing over here. We don't want you guys in Washington to lose it over there,'” actor/comedian Richard Belzer condescendingly fired back, claiming that to “ask them” is “bullshit” since, apparently unlike him, “they don't read twenty newspapers a day.” Ros-Lehtinen cited the knowledge of her Marine officer stepson, but Belzer, who plays “Detective John Munch” on NBC's Law & Order: SVU, retorted: “Doesn't mean he's a brilliant scholar about the war because he's there.” A quite agitated Ros-Lehtinen sputtered: "Oh, you are though! You are though? Okay." To which Belzer affirmed: "Well I have more time...” Host Bill Maher interjected that Belzer's point was that a 19-year-old is in the army “because he probably couldn't find other employment." The Republican Congresswoman from Florida countered that her stepson is a college graduate, leading Belzer to snidely denigrate the military: "You think everyone over there is a college graduate? They're 19 and 20-year-old kids who couldn't get a job.”
Belzer is in liberal la-la land. They have this idiotic elitist idea that only they are smart enough to know better. They think that unless someone went to college, no one else is smart enough to know what’s going on.
This was evident in the last Presidential election where some tried to claim that Bush voters (or those in the “red states”) had lower IQs than those in the “blue states” or Kerry voters. It was a lie. There isn’t any such study, but there were all those “smart blue staters” that ran with it.
Also, some brainiac liberal lefty loon job left this comment on my blog a while back ago:
how tolerant do you expect us to be when your side of the aisle conspires to steal all of our rights? You should be disabused of the notion that we are a bunch of lazy non-violent bookworms; if you actually achieve your goals there will be hideous and bloody revolution from our side. And remember, we actually graduated from college.
Just a friendly warning
Notice Einstein’s lack of grammar and capitalization. At least his warning of blood and destruction was friendly!
This was part of my reply to Mr. Cerebral:
Another clue for you Hero. Most of the military are conservatives. Given that, it stands to reason that there are a lot of veterans out there trained on various weaponry and tactics. Conservatives are also more likely to own guns.
So, do you want to start a war college boy? Bring it on!
40 years ago, when the draft was in full swing, it was common to have some of the dimmer bulbs in the ranks. Today, it’s a different story. With rare exception, you must have a high school diploma or GED. They like it even better if you’ve had a bit of college. Again, with the rarest of exception, in today’s military, every officer has a college education. If you wish to proceed past E-6 or E-7 to E8 or 9 in the enlisted ranks, you’ll most likely need at least an associate’s degree and be well on your way to a bachelor’s degree. Most have a Bachelor's and many have Master’s Degrees or are working on it. Most Lieutenant Colonels (O-5) and above have a Master’s Degree.
There are always exceptions, but most of the dimmer bulbs get weeded out sooner or later. The era of the barely literate draftee or the petty criminal ordered in by a judge is long gone. Most of those 19 and 20 year old guys are there to get an education. I work with guys in uniform every single day. Do you have any idea what you have to know to work on today’s complex aircraft? Do you have any idea what it takes to maintain a supersonic jet fighter crammed with some of the most advanced electronics and technology available. Do you know how to repair carbon composites or Jet engines. Most of you probably can’t even change your own oil! They may not all have college degrees, but what they have to know is often on that level.
While they are in, even in Iraq, these 19 and 20 year old kids are taking college courses from reputable colleges and universities. Here on McChord AFB, there is St. Martin’s University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Chapman College, Southern Illinois University, and two community colleges in the area. They hold classes right on base. In fact, I’ll be taking another class from Embry-Riddle in May. Many of these and other colleges and universities all over the country contract with the DOD to provide the troops with higher education.
The left tries to promote the myth that a sheepskin equates to intelligence. Sometimes it does, but not always. The lack of formal education is not always an indicator either!
I don’t have a degree. I may never have one. If you think that makes me less than intelligent, you just might be the one that’s lacking the IQ.
One thing is a given in all this -- Richard Belzer doesn't know what in hell he's talking about.

Wow. That was a good post VW. Very good.
It's almost funny the cockiness that celebrities display. It's like they really do believe the world revolves around them and their usually whacked out opinions.
If this Belzer is the intelligent one, then please give me the stupid.
The nerve of that moron.

So if one person that reads 20 newspapers a day nad has a college education disagrees with him I wonder how that makes his position look.

If Belcher reads 20 newspapers a day, either he has way too much time on his hands or he is menatlly ill - or both. I like JAR's comment:
So if one person that reads 20 newspapers a day nad has a college education disagrees with him I wonder how that makes his position look.
Don't you wish you could ask him that in person?
