But names will NEVER hurt me!" Hi Folks, Patriette again, attempting to wring one last drop of world stupidity out of the "cup of life". Written by Kim McLaughlin and Per Bech Tomsen, dated Mon. Feb 13, a Reuters story straight from the can...the, <snicker> "Copenhagen can"...
Quote: "A senior member of Denmark's Muslim community urged followers on Monday to 'move on'
in the row over the cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed after holding crisis talks with Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen." And just WHO is this senior member of Denmark's Muslim community? He is none other than Naser Khader, A MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT. Huh? Be honest. Did any of YOU know that Denmark has Muslim folks living there with real Arab names and everything? I didn't. In addition, Khader has founded a new group called Democratic Muslims. Isn't that an oxymoron? You know, like, "clearly ambiguous", "natural blonde", and MY personal favorite: "french deoderant". Anyway, Patri-ette is sending Naser a big "Atta boy" for his remarks. In the article Khader stated that a few Danish fundamentalist clerics had "set the agenda on behalf of all Danish Muslims and (that) his network of around 700 members was more broadly representative." OK, so including Naser, that's 701 Muslims in Denmark, but DANISH FUNDAMENTALIST CLERICS? I don't know about you guys, but I figured a Danish fundamentalist cleric was probably a minister of the (Missouri Synod style) Lutheran Church! Prime Minister Anders, who needs to come out of the Fogh, Rasmussen requested a meeting with Khader and his Democratic Muslims after the conservative government "accused some local Muslim leaders of showing the cartoons to Muslims in the Middle East in an effort to fan the flames of the scandal." "Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive" (Thanks, Will). So, like Danish farmer's cheese, the plot thickens...MEANWHILE in Azerbaijan, a largely Muslim province/nation (what are they, really? They aren't one of the "Stans" of the old USSR...) a small newspaper "published a derogatory caption over a picture of Jesus Christ in what the editor said was a response to the Danish caricatures." Neener Neener. I think I'll run outside and burn an Azerbaijan flag, provided they even make them! And that's another thing, have you noticed how these poor, impoverished Muslim provinces and nations always seem to have a flag of the "anti-Muslim nation of the week"? What gives here, folks? I mean, OK, the United States is a world power, so I figure these folks can probably find a US flag somewhere in an open market bazaar...But, a DANISH flag? I'm willing to bet they'd NEVER even heard of Denmark let alone have access to their flag prior to the "BIGGEST POLITICAL AND SOCIAL GAFFE THUS FAR IN THE 21ST CENTURY". And IF the speculation/accusation that local Danish Muslim leaders showed the cartoons to Muslims in the Middle East "in an effort to fan the flames of the scandal" IS true, we all better "watch the hell out" cuz we all knew that there are beaucoup Muslims in France, viel Muslims in Germany and a damn bloody-lot of them in Great Britain, but IF fundamentalist Muslims are pulling a "Ghengis Khan, an Alexander the Great, a Charlemagne, a Napolean Bonaparte" we better be prepared to stand up and fight for what we've got here in God's country, cuz Patri-ette ain't wearin' no blasted burkah, ya hear?
I'm yours til the sun sets (you're too late...it's dark here in the Pacific NW!!)
Patri-ette
