Some Thoughts on Sulu, Trekkies and Trekkin'
So George Takei outted himself. The dashing (or is that "swishing") Mr. Sulu has decided to come out of the closet after all these years. Whatever. It's his life and I don't particularly care who he sleeps with. As long as it breaks no law, I couldn't care less. I don't think it's right, but I'm no moralist.
My only reason for mentioning this is not to comment about Mr. Takei, per se. I just wonder how many trekkies will all of a sudden decide to switch roles. Most of the real die hard Trekkies I've met are pretty weird folks. It would be interesting to guage their reaction. Perhaps, like me, most don't care. (No, I'm not a Trekkie, I don't even own one of the movies)
I have it on some authority that Star Trek is popular among the child molester set. (I knew a convicted molester and he indicated it was so. He particularly liked Worf.)
I know, most trekkies are probably fine, upstanding folks and I'm also not trying to insinuate that a gay trekkie is a child molester. Let's not get stuck on stupid here. I'm just telling you that for some reason, the kid pervs are attracted to the trekkie stuff.
If I were a Trekkie, I'd be Ryker. "Scotty, Beam down Lt. Troi, and oh yeah, that bottle of wine next to my bunk!"
Now that's Trekkin'!

VW out...uh...not THAT kind of out.

I wonder if those who watched "the second generation" are true trekkies. I never go to conventions, but I loved the original series and didn't care for the others enough to watch more than a couple of episodes. I don't care about actors private lives, don't even want to hear about them.

Okay Bro, I'm a die hard trekkie and boy did I have a crush on Cap't Kirk when I was younger. Loved it in all it's incarnations, except I never really got into "Enterprise". Own all the movies and all of Star Trek, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager. Don't have all of Enterprise. Will eventually. And I have been to the conventions. Never dressed up or anything so see, I'm not weird. Okay a little strange :), but that's all. Really!!! And does anybody really care that old George is gay. I sure don't, but looking back we should have all known it. He never had a girlfriend on the show. And why would child molesters like Worf. He would have kicked their a****, if they would have hurt a child. See, I'm not weird. I just analyze tv characters. Really!!!

I am not exactly sure what the he** you mean by "switch roles". Trekkies [the fans] are not going to turn around a hate him becaus ehe is gay. And certainly no one is switching teams because he is gay. Care to explain yourself a little better?

Slacker,
It was just a guess. Since I'm not a "trekkie" I was just thinking there might be a homophobic fan or two. Frankly, I'm not too concerned one way or another.
Don't get too worked up about it.
And I guess I should have looked up how to spell the character's name. Oh well. What can I say - I was slackin'!
