One of the mantras of the moonbats is that Hitler was elected and then they draw some weird parallel to President Bush. Moonbat Blog after Moonbat Blog touts the party line.
IT'S A FREAKIN’ LIE PEOPLE!!!!! STUDY SOME DAMNED HISTORY!!!!!!!
That’s right. HITLER WAS NOT ELECTED TO ANY DAMN THING!!!!!!!
Let me repeat that. Hitler was appointed by Hindenburg to be Chancellor. Adolf Hitler was never elected to anything. Hitler ran for President in 1932 as head of the National Socialist German Workers Party, and garnered about 36% of the vote. Paul von Hindenburg, the 84 year-old President, won reelection with 53%.
The Weimar Republic was essentially designed to fail and fail it did. The intrigue that finally got Hitler APPOINTED Chancellor by President Hindenburg and the events that followed shortly afterwards almost seem like they were the plot to a Hollywood thriller. Alliances and enemies changed and merged on a daily basis. Some people make some weird extrapolation that since Hindenburg was elected, then Hitler was elected. That’s like saying since Bush was elected so Rumsfeld was elected. Maybe not, at least Rumsfeld had to pass a Senate vote.
Some try and draw a parallel with Bush and the 2000 election. They claim that since he lost the election, he was appointed by the Supreme Court. Again, only STUPID PEOPLE make that parallel. Our constitution gives the Presidency to the one who wins the most electoral votes, not who wins the popular vote. It happened in the past and may happen again. Hitler was soundly defeated. The only reason he had any stature was that his party won a sizable minority in the Reichstag.
Bush is not Hitler. Only the most deranged left-wing whacko could really think so. Only those who are completely uneducated in history could possibly draw a parallel. At the end of 2008, Bush will be gone. Whether he is replaced by a Democrat or a Republican is up for grabs, but the point is, he will be gone. He will follow the law and retire. Within weeks of Hitler’s appointment, he solidified his power and became a dictator. Only the end of a very bloody war put an end to Hitler.
Bottom Line – if you think Bush is some kind of Nazi Hitler wannabe, you are an idiot. Shut up, and go read a damn history book.
VW

Uh, are you an historian? Get a life you "winner". Loving Hitler got old in the 1990s.
VW's Note:
You see, this is what I was talking about. This is a prime example of someone who has absolutely no idea of history beyond what some socialist pamhleteer told him.

Uhm, would you take Defense Secretary Rulmsfeld's word for it, VW?
Testimony as Delivered by Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld, Senate Armed Services Committee, Washington, DC, Wednesday, July 9, 2003.
SEC. RUMSFELD: I saw the pool of names, and it's large and diverse, in answer to your question. It includes folks from all across the spectrum--the Iraqis.
And elections are something that it seems to me will have to be determined as we go down the road. The goal in life is not to have one election one time, as happened when Adolf Hitler was elected, for example. The goal is to have a process and to have true representation and true respect for the various elements, diverse elements in that country.

And as happens to be, he is not an historian, but he probably knows more about history than most historians. He has read and studied history for years. I know this for a fact. If you look at the books he is recommending you will see just a small protion of that. Also, he happens to be one of the most intelligent people I have ever had the privilege of knowing. We may not always see eye to eye on politics, but I would never question his knowledge on history. And he does not love Hitler in any way. He was merely stating facts, if you would have read and paid attention to what he wrote in that piece you could have figured that out for yourself.
Hope you don't mind Bro, but that guy was totally clueless or he only read part of and made some kind of... No he was clueless.

It appears that Secretary Rumsfeld doesn't know his history either if he said that.

Hello. I've been to your site before and I would like to say that I am not for one party or another, but vote for the person I think is best suited for the job. For some time now I've come to believe that Ron Paul would make a good president because of his non intervention foreign policy. We should trade freely with other countries, but we should avoid war unless it's absolutely necessary. Also I would like to ask you why you believe history books are accurate all the time, since it sounds that way when you tell people to look at history? You've obviously seen a lot in your military life but how can any of us know it all since none of us can witness it all? Did you fight the nazies? How can you know how Hitler was elected, exactly? Any and all information has to be questioned since there is the human element of exaggeration and distortion and propaganda and lies... ..and that includes questioning history books, and questioning who writes history and who stands to gain from it. You can't be a fly on the wall all the time.

Good post, VW. When the libs cant defeat you with facts, they turn to name-calling. So I guess thats a good sign: whenever they start calling you names, then you know you're really killing 'em! Good job.
Keep up the good work, sir.
