the Benefits of working for the Union
I'm already on record as being no fan of unions. I've been in a couple of unions in my time and I can't say the experience was really worth it.
I'm no big fan of Wal-Mart either. My wife likes them, but I don't. Not because I'm against them, I just don't like their stores. It's a texture thing.
In the Las Vegas area, the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) is concerned about Wal-mart employees and is picketing their stores. The picketers sit out in 104 degree heat for 5 hours and get two 15-minute breaks to use the restroom across the street. The picketers make $6.00 an hour with no benefits. They are not Union represented employees. They are not even employees of the union. They are temporary employees hired by the union from a temp agency.
Rivera removes his watch to show the dark tan his arm has gotten working in the sun; he talks about how he takes three buses to get to this work site on weekends; it takes two hours to get there and two hours to get home—a nine-hour day including that transportation for a gross pay of $35.
$35 dollars for a nine hour day. That has to be CRIMINAL!
And the Wal-Mart employees?
"The average rate of pay for Nevada Wal-Mart workers is $10.17 an hour. We have a good insurance program, and every associate—even part-timers—are eligible for the 401k," says Mark Dyson. "There's actually different levels of insurance, dental and medical—I have a $500 deductible, but there's no cap on it. Some other companies' plans have a $1 million cap, but here there's no cap. For example, not long ago we had an associate whose husband needed a liver transplant, and that alone was $600,000; but they didn't have to worry about a cap."
Not to mention they get regular breaks and work in an air-conditioned environment.
The UCFW should be exposed as the frauds they are. I hope the Wal-Mart employees see through this sham for what it is. The UCFW doesn't give a damn about workers. that is obvious by their exploitation of the temporary workers. All they want is the money a Wal-Mart contract would bring in.

Amazing...hiring people to protest for you! The anti-Wal mart crowd is interesting. First, no one is forced to work at WM. Next, no one is forced to shop at WM. So this is all a matter of idiocy. If WM is that flipping bad, no one would bloody work there! Idiots!
