90,000 Square Miles. Minnesota is about 87,000 Square Miles. So roughly an area a little larger than the entire state of Minnesota is officially declared a disaster area in the southern United States.
Where do you start? New Orleans? Gulfport? Biloxi?
Waveland, between NOLA and Gulfport, took a direct hit from Katrina’s eye. It’s gone. It was almost completely destroyed, just like dozens of other coastal towns along the Gulf Coast.

Do any of you have a grasp upon the enormity of providing emergency relief to 90,000 square miles?
That’s why we depend upon local and state assistance to be the primary source of help in the first few days after a catastrophe.
We all know everybody made mistakes. I’m tired of the pinheads who think it was all Bush’s fault. Political myopia is the worst thing in times like these.
Yes, I’ve pointed out mistakes by local and state authorities. It’s an attempt to show you that huge errors in judgment were made by all parties.
