Some Places To Give
Today, I went to work. The roads were still intact, and my place of employment wasn't under 6 feet of water. Tonight, I will go home to a warm house, a home cooked meal, and sleep on a dry bed. I will watch a little TV, surf some blogs and post an article or two. The lights will be on and the water will flow. My toilet will flush. In otherwords, life will be normal for me and my family.
Millions of my fellow Americans will not have that luxury. Many have already lost loved ones. The Hurricane called Katrine wiped out whole cities. They lost their homes, their jobs and their lives were forever changed. It's a tribute to American know-how and ingenuity that thousands, if not tens of thousands, weren't lost.
My wife and I will be sitting down tonight and discussing how much we can afford to give and who we will give it to.
I hope you will do the same.
