First this story breaks and the 9/11 Commissions disavows it, then they tell us they knew about it but they didn't believe it. Next President Clinton starts mumbling about how his legacy was denied because he just didn't have enough evidence to get Bin Laden. Now we have a name attached to Able Danger. And if his allegations are true (and I suspect they are) then the Democrats have some "splainin" to do.
Left-Wingers are all a twitter about the Rove case but not many seem to have gotten upset over Sandy Berger and his pilfering of Top Secret materials. He got off with a hand slap for committing a huge felony. When I was in the military, and had I stolen secret documents, I would have spent years in a military prison. And indications are, that the documents he purloined may have something to do with the Able Danger allegations.
Democrats wanted to try and pin 9/11 on president Bush, but it is looking more and more like the Clinton administration wasn't as vigilant as they could have been.
So far, I don't know if any crimes were committed (other than Berger's felonies), but it does cast aspersions on the commission's integrity and upon Clinton's handling of terrorist threats. The so-called "wall of seperation" that was put in place by Ms. Gorelick was much higher than it needed to be and because of that, it appears that Mohammed Atta and his gang of murderers slipped through the cracks and killed almost 3000 people.
All of this may pose a problem for Hillary in 2008. How could the smartest woman in the world let this happen? On the other hand, 2008 is still a few years away and things like this get buried. Blogs may change that but for now, my money is on it being all but forgotten and no one in the MSM will ask Hillary about it - ever.
